The first Life-Egypt

Chapter Two

In chronological order I remember the first life taking place in Egypt. I have to this day a fascination with things Egyptian and had not given it much thought until later in life.

The first glimpse or inkling of this life came when I was about forty years old and was at dinner with friends and one of their friends, whom I had not met, sat down at the table.

She had been running late. I looked at her and she I and we both had that familiar deju vu feeling.

It was not that she looked familiar, or sounded familar it was that rather there was a certain aspect of her that  I felt I knew or should know. This was not love at first sight, it was a sense of  connection at first sight.

So, as dinner wore on, I decided to voice the feeling I was having, because it is my way to blurt. She immediately took me up on that topic expressng the same feeling that she and I had something in common or at least might have known each other as children.

We started to explore our childhoods, high school, college and the like and finally mutual friends looking to find where that connection might be.

Our dinner mates joined in the conversation like detectives looking to solve the Mystery-That-Came-To-Dinner.

She said:

"Well you grew up in Chicago and I grew up in New York, there does not seem to be much of connection there. I don't have any relatives in Chicago."

I said:

"I certainly don't have any relatives in NY either. I take it you went to high school in NY as well?

"I did," she said.

College was a similar story, neither of us had gone to college in any city close.

But then I took a look into her eyes and memory glimspes started to happen.

I said:

"I am getting the feeling that perhaps I knew you in a previous life."

She froze and said

"Yes, me too, in Egypt, I think I knew you Egypt!"

A flood of scenes started to happen. I remembered Egypt, I saw scenes of working on the pyramids, of work gangs, of giant ramps moving the stones.

"Yes I said excitedly, I was the leader of a work gang. Oh my God I blurted I was a gang leader and you were a slave, a nubian slave."

The table went utterly silent as well as other diners who were blatantly ease-dropping on this conversation.

"Yes she said quietly, "And I got pregnant by you and died."
" And your name was Iais," I said astonished that I possessed such knowlege.

"And yours was Rachma."
The silence was deafening.

To be continued.
