I am doing okay, but I am finding it hard to resist temptation ...
Seven-Fingers here. Hope this finds y'all well. As for me, I'm working, which is a huge answer to prayer, but I see all the fancy baubles and stuff in front of me, and right away, I feel I have to nab a little something, y'know??
Yet I know if I do, I could end up right back where I started when I first got into this mess: back in a jail cell for "petty theft". And it would wreck any chances of ever getting ahead and putting my criminal past behind me for good.
Sometimes, though, a guy's gotta have what he needs in life. With Christmas coming up and all, I'd like to get a little something for my family, but I don't think they would appreciate it if they found out what I had gotten them for Christmas was stolen! They're already pretty upset with me for turning to a life of crime as it is; I am trying to fall upon their good graces and hope to God that they eventually learn to forgive me.
Additionally, I'm also tempted to raid the local H-E-B store here in town and steal me some Thanskgiving food: turkey and all the trimmings. But one question remains: HOW does one get a 10-pound turkey out without being caught? There are security cameras all over the place and I would defnitely get nabbed for sure, especially if the turkey so happens to fall out of my coat and have it go bouncing merrily down the aisle.
That would NOT be a very smart thing to do, especially since my parole officer has been telling me how proud he is of me for good behavior and trying to put the criminal side behind me.
What to do, what to do? Oh, I could go to the local church for Thanksgiving dinner, but I feel I would not be welcome there, especially if people found it out that I have a criminal record: they wouldn't want "my kind" darkening their holy doors. So I guess I will just stay home and feel sorry for myself and pray that I can at least have some turkey to eat or at least have Christmas!!
