My name is Epatha Elaina Del Rio. I live in Boulder, Colorado, with my family. My family consists of my brothers Hermano and Javiar, my baby sister, Antonetta, and our two mothers. Yes, you heard and read right: I have two mothers.
I am 13 years old.
My dad walked out of my life when Mami started hanging around Torrence. Mami decided that she was a lesbian, so she more or less, dumped Papi, and I haven't seen him since I was five. I am now 11 years old. I do hear from Papi at Christmas, Thanksgiving, or on my birthday, but he absolutely refuses to talk to Mami or accept her "new lifestyle", as he puts it.
It was a huge change for me at first, but I have since accepted Mama's new girlfriend. She is very sweet in temperament and cooks up a mean supper. I mean, she can cook ANYTHING: Cajun, Mexican/Tex-Mex, Italian, German, Americana: you name it and she can make it. Torrence's cooking is to die for!
Torrence also happens to be Antonetta's mother. She (Antonetta) is my step sister.
Another thing I like about Torrence is that she is very good with my three younger siblings. When I am getting stressed out about them bothering me, Torrence will volunteer to watch them until Mami gets home from work. That way, I can do my homework, work on any dance routines I've learned at ballet class, work on my vocals (besides dance, I take voice, also on the days I have dance), read, or watch television.
When I want to grow up, I want to be president of the United States. I want to see more rights given to families like mine, families who have parents who are gay or lesbian. I get annoyed at evangelical Christians who say what we "do" is a sin. Oh, really. Well, I'd like to see them shut their mouths and leave us alone; we have as much right to do as we please! If you ask me, they are some of the worst judgmental people around! They are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites! UGH!!
No, we don't believe. We are Wiccan. We believe in nature more than God (if there even IS a god ...). I have no problems wiht it, and I have no problems with having parents who happen to be ... lesbian.
It's part of who I am, so there. Case closed!
My two moms hope that President Obama gets re elected; he's done so much for not only gay rights, but also immigrant issues. They are planning on voting for him in November; if I was old enough to vote, I'd vote for him as well. I happen to like him. Always have.
Well, I gotta run. Mami just got home from work (she works at WalMart as a cashier) and Torrence has supper on; tonight it's eggplant parmigana (spelling??). Sounds and smells heavenly! Torrence works at a daycare center five days a week; she's off on the weekends.
I will write in here again; until later, this is Epatha Del Rio saying blessed be!
