Greetings this is your friend Mechela, and I thought I would take the time to write to let everyone know how I am doing it is mid morning here in Lalibela and our morning chores have been done, and we are having a break. I decided to write to make the time pass, and because it has been awhile.
Soon I will be having to leave the village for school and that means leaving the family. I will be sleeping in a room with other girls nearing thirteen. I am a little scared, but I know I am blessed my family knows the importance of education, some girls my age are already married.
I have talked to My Mother and Father about my fears, but they assure me everything will be alright. I feel bad because I will not be here to help with the chores, but they both say my education is my most important chore right now.
We attened Church yesterday as we always do, I have heard of the traditions of the non orthodox Christians and truthfully they confuse me, but I know I can not judge them, they are Christians after all, followers of the Messiah just as myself and my family are.
Well I better go Mother has called our afternoon meal is finished, and then Dad said we will walk to the market, he even gave me spending money for a trinket, I told him he did not have to but he did so anyway.
