A woman serving in Iraq feels as if she is being watched.

Image of eye (c) 2011, by Karen Vidra.

I feel as if prying eyes are watching my every move and it is starting to freak me out big time ...

I don't know who is doing this or why, but I do suspect that they want me or my comrades dead.  Why else would we even be here in this far off foreign land where people hate America and Americans in general?

Oh, yeah, I remember: We are at war: we are trying to help them become free, but at a heavy price: many soldiers have been killed or mortally wounded as a result and while the enemy seems to get off scot-free, our soldiers are being charged with "war crimes".  What gives??

I feel the eyes burrowing deep inside me and there is no escaping this feeling of impending dread or doom.  I have talked to my base commander about this, and all he does is say that I am crazy or just am imagining things.

Well, he may be right, but I still don't like it one bit.  I wish I were back home in Galveston, Texas, where the only thing I had to worry about was hurricanes or whether the weather was going to be nice enough for another day at the beach, but compared to this, hurricanes are just a minor inconvenience.  In this case, I'd rather face ten Hurricane Ikes than to be on foreign soil and at the mercy of a people who clearly don't want us here!

~To be continued.~

although...for the most... i love the middle east, the people, their religion, and their culture...i am sure being in a foreign country as a soldier has the the rumble of death as does a hurricane.
