Cat's Adventures are many

The adventures of Cat continues, this has been a very busy week for him. Cat's best friend is the squirrel that live in the pine tree by the patio. Most days the two of them play a mild game of chase.
Because of the snow I put out some seeds for the geese and ducks of course the squirrel has to have his fair share of the treat, and with all the snow the cat can't get out to run by the lake so the seeds on the patio makes for great Cat TV as he watches the birds feed.
The snow here in south Jersey did not stay long but the bird seed did, much to the joy of our resident squirrel he had it all to him self.
Cat too was glad that the snow was melting it meant he was not trapped indoors. That's where his problem of this week started.
The squirrel came to clean up the last of the seeds and Cat was out doors and saw him.
Getting close to the ground his tail dragging behind him he started to stalk his friend, getting closer and closer until they were almost nose to nose.
Cat pounced at the squirrel and their noses did touch for the squirrel did not run, did not even stop chewing. Cat back up still eyeing him for this is not the way the game goes.
Cat pounces and the squirrel runs for the tree this is not happening, so now what should he do.
Laying his ears close to his head, he sits watching until he could not longer stand the fact that the squirrel is not going to play.
Cat turns and runs for the door, scratching on the glass panes like he has seen the very devil him self.
After I collected my self long enough from laughing at Cat, I let him in, as he enters he snaps his tail while looking back at the squirrel as if to say, tomorrow your stew.
With all that, the next day was calm and the game between the two of them went back to normal. Cat chases and squirrel runs.
I don't know where he went this morning when he became tired of playing but I do know what he looked like when he came back home.
Strolling into the house I checked him over as I always do as he comes into the kitchen. At the base of his tail on his back is something that looks like a slug or a worm.
Now I am not fond of those two crawling things and the fact that he might be sporting one on his back caused me to get the shivers. A friend of mine who was visiting said it looked like a leaf.
I got close to Cat and saw it was not a leaf, for it sort of seem to move. At that point I was beside my self with the, "ewwwwwwwwww" and my hands waving in the air.
Cat was chasing me then I was chasing him to keep him from getting in my bed.
My friend was trying to calm us both down by reasoning with me that there are not worms or slugs out in the snow.
At long last my friend said, " I bet that is goose poop." Which of course brought out another set of, "ewwwwwwww" from me, but at least that calmed me enough that I went and got a paper towel to see if I could remove the offensive thing from his back.
I did not check to see what he had been wearing but for the rest of the day he was not allowed to go out...

My 7 year old grandson would love this story; planning to read it to him after school tommorrow. He loves walks by the pond near our home, but hates the "goose poop." In fact when he was younger, it was one of the most "natural resources he recognized. And he would always say when he say it, "Eewwww, Grannie! Goose Poop!".

I wish you, Cat and Squirrel many many many happy lives.

blessin's,

You had me laughing through this whole story, Cheryl! That is one brave squirrel, one frustrated kitty cat, and one scared to death owner of some harmless old goose poop!! Well done; great story.
