The Pearson kids, who live in Fort Worth, Texas, write a letter to their mother for Mother's Day.
May 9, 2004..Mother's Day
Dear Mama:
Thank you for being the best mom in the whole, entire world to us kids! You are the best mama we could have ever asked for; and we are blessed in knowing you!
When you started adding kids to the family, we were a bit jealous; but Mama, you showed us that even though there were new kids to love in the family, you still loved "us originals", and you said that your love would never go away, but only multiply. Well, Mama, it did, and we have learned to love the additions too; and now we can't seem to imagine our lives without them because it is as though they have always been our brothers or sisters! You also taught us about compassion towards the handicapped and that even though they are disabled, our disabled brothers and sisters are just like us in a lot of ways, and their disabilities do not make them any less of a person!
You make the best dinners in the world; and I wish we could cook like you; you always know what to do with a mess of food; and you somehow combine everything into one great tasting meal, and we always look forward to your tasty treats! You also know how to shop, and you know how to treat us when we get sick; and you never fail to take us to the doctor if you feel it is necessary; and whenever we get sick or in a jam you always know how to come to our rescue in the nick of time and bail us out! We may be hurting or in pain, but somehow you always make it so much better, especially if we have to go to the emergency room (like that time back in February when I broke my leg when I jumped off the bed wrong; I was in agony, but you kept your cool, and you got me to the E.R., and soon, we were back on our way home, my leg in a cast, and then hobbling around on forearm crutches a few days after that--and then five weeks later, I finally ditched the crutches!)!
If ever we have a question about God or the Bible, you always supply the answers, and you make learning about God fun. You also take us to church, so we can learn of God and Jesus, and we always look forward to Church Day every Sunday!
We are lucky in having you for a mama, Mama, because you loved us enough to take us into your home (and your heart), and now because of it, kids who were once deemed "throwaways" or "unadoptable" now finally have a chance to love and be loved in a family they can finally call their own; and we are better in knowing the adopted kids. If it were not for you or daddy, we would have never heard about Hanh Ly, Linn, Miracle, Malik, Jamar, Sapphire, Hayleigh, Henry, or Jordan Kyung! And they would have never become our brothers or sisters!
Thank you, Mama, for being there in times of trouble and joy, and thank you for your love and encouragement you show us every day! Thank you, too, for your talents and energetic ways, and thank you for supporting us and making us all feel like winners! We couldn't have asked for a better Mama than YOU!!
Happy Mother's Day, Mama; hope you have the best one EVER!! Hope you liked the dinner we took you too at the Golden Corral in Burleson, and hope you liked all the stuff we got (or made) for you! You deserve it because you are our Mom, and today is YOUR day to be spoiled by US!!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your kids~
