Johnny quickly puts an entry into his journal before he goes to bed for the night. He will continue the second part on Friday; he has a doctor's appointment tomorrow, plus he is scheduled for some tests at the hospital, to see how he is doing with his muscular dystrophy.

Weds., January 26, 2005, 7:25 p.m., C.S.T.~

Dear Journal~

I won't make this long, but I figured I'd write in here at least a little before I hit the sack for tonight. I have a big day tomorrow: I have to go to the doctor's, for my monthly checkup, and I also have some tests tomorrow at the Neuromuscular Department at the hospital. They want to see how my medicine is working, and they also want to see how my muscles are doing, in regards to my muscular dystrophy...I will probably be at the hospital a good chunk of the day, so I won't get to write much tomorrow; so I will continue this on Friday when I get back from school.

ANYWAY...I am doing pretty good; haven't had any seizures or breathing troubles; so I guess in a way, that is good news right there. Seems like SOME of my meds are working! I also have been trying harder to get along with Ronee', but she is still being a little braggy, and today, Nicole told her off and they got into a huge fight; and now they aren't speaking to one another. Serves Ronee' right; she DOES brag a little too much, and it is getting on my nerves FAST! About TIME someone got her on her cse about her bragging; it drives me CRAZY!! Ever since "American Idol" came back on tv, she has been a regular little BRAGGART, and she is getting impossible! I think her head is getting as big as her hair: she got a new perm, and she needs to have her head popped, to bring it back to size...if I had a pin on me, I'd do it in a SECOND! LOL

School is going well; haven't had TOO much trouble (THANKS, Sylvan!! :) ), and I have been doing good on my tests; but the kids are still picking on me somewhat; but they are starting to stop, and they are starting to see that even though I am in a wheelchair, I am still a kid, and I can do a lot of things if I put my mind to it (and I DO)! I got B's and even a few A's on my last homework assignments, and I also aced my English quiz; and I also got an A in art! So I am happy with how school is going! :)

I haven't been doing a lot, but I am seeing Loretta Lynn in concert when she comes back to Tennessee; that should be in a few months or so. Will have to check out her schedule on her web site to see when she is coming to Nashville. Can't wait (but I would still rather see Reba! LOL)!

Mama is not too happy nowadays: she is facing surgery on her back in the next month or so, and she is scared. I honestly can't say I blame her; she has had a lot of trouble with her walking, and she is using crutches instead of her cane (didn't help that she lost her cane in Sri Lanka!); and it's not been at all fun for her. She had some tests on Monday when she went to her doctor, and he said that she has a slipped disk in her back, and it is pressing on the siatic nerve in her back; and it is causing bad pain in her legs and lower back. She has to have the surgery or she could become paralyzed and would need a wheelchair for the rest of her life; so she has no choice, really. I feel bad for her; she has been through so much, and I dearly hope that she makes it through her surgery!

Well, I will write more later; I have to take my pills, put on my oxygen, and go to bed; have to be up by six so I can be at the doc's by eight; and then to the hospital. WHEE!! Sounds like a fun day...NOT! Bet they'll poke me with needles; they always seem to do that...NOT good! I will write more on Friday, after school, so I will go now. I will let you know how I make out at the doc's on Friday; so stay tuned!

(((HUGS))) and love, your pal, Johnn-o ("Pincushion", i.e., "Gonna' stick me with needles!") Sandusky, aged 12. :(

To be continued.

hi Karen, didn't mean to tarnish your color blue up that bad, but its not the color itself, it's the other meanings, some kind of depressing. I looked it up on my thausarean and some of them were pretty distastful. Anyway good story, I hate needles too. The dentist always stands in front and shows me the big long needle before he stick it in my gums, I always be thinking, "just do it man, don't wave it in my face." hehehe G

I enjoyed reading Johnny's journal entry. The introduction helps to prepare us, too. Those Those monthly check-ups and tests at the hospital can be really taxing. Also, that back pain can really be awful, too. It can bring tears to your eyes for sure.
