Susie Jackson writes in your diary after receiving a letter from a friend

Dear Diary,

Maybe there is a God in heaven! I will never know how, but a letter from Ronee Sandusky somehow made it's way to me. I thought the world had forgotten that the Jackson girls existed.I have no way to answer it, no way to get a letter in the mail or send a email. I might was well not worry about it, there is nothing I can do about it. Ronee is praying for us. I wish she would pray for us to be rescued, but she has no way of knowing the situation we are in. When I got the letter I almost started to feel like we might be rescued but how can that happen if no one knows what is going on. Unless we get a miracle, Maria, Lacey and I are going to die here. Maria is very weak and Lacey has been coughing, I think the dust and mold in here is agrivating her asthma. I am so worried about them I don't know what to do. They need help. I don't feel well myself but I try not to let it show when I can. It's really hard at times though.

I am going to close now. Lacey is crying again and I need to comfort her if I can. It seems like as the days pass they lose hope of being rescued a little each day. I try to keep encouraging them but I don't even believe it myself.
