Cluelessly in Love
Recently moved to Boise Idaho, I was a sophomore in high school. I was a very smart girl (still am), but had no boyfriend even though I was sexually active.
I had broken up with my first real boyfriend Jon and was I guess you could say "on the rebound", met up with a guy by the name of Michael K. (I remember his full name, but God knows why, I wish to protect it.)
Mike and I had gone on a couple of dates, mostly just out to dinners, and always talked on the phone. One weekend, while my mother was at work, my older sister and I decided to invite him over for a little while. He asked if he could bring a friend, and I agreed.
My sister Michelle answered the door, while I turned on some good old 80's music (well it was the 80's at that time). There she was, Jennifer his friend. He told me that he and she had been friends for a long time and at one point were boyfriend and girlfriend. I welcomed her to our home as I kissed Mike.
Jennifer and my sister hung out while Mike and I kissed and did the innocent touchy-feely stuff. Every once and a while the girls would just giggle hysterically.
Noontime rolled around and I made all of us lunch and dessert, then we all danced and Mike and I kissed some more. Soon mom would be home, so we made our good-byes with our guests and cleaned the house up before mom got home.
I asked my sister why every time I looked at her and Jennifer they would giggle, but she just ignored me. Later that evening I asked her again, and she replied, "If I tell you, you'll be pissed." So being the stubborn teenager that I was I insisted she tell me.
"Jennifer is Mike's girlfriend. They played you."
"Nope, thats what Jennifer and I were laughing about every time you kissed him."
I literally felt the fool. My heart splattered into pieces. I was truly clueless. Cluelessly in Love.
To this day, I don't know why my sister didn't tell me right away, or even kick them out as soon as she knew. Maybe she was clueless too.
