Dear Ma'am~
You don't know us, but you do know one of our friends, Jenna Aurora Doucet, who lives in Anchorage. She has told us about your family, nad this is what prompted us to write to you.
My name is Uma Tullaq, and my husband's name is Kirk. We are in the process of adopting a child from Russia, but whether we will be getting a boy or a girl is still up in the air. We had tried to have a child of our own, but we have been unsuccessful thus far; therefore, we have turned to international adoption.
Jenna Doucet told us about you, and we cannot imagine being the parent to that many children. FIFTY-THEEE children, most with special needs? WOW! That is terrific! You must be angels to take in so many children! It's a wonder how you keep order in a family that big! That is amazing! How in the world do you do it without going crazy??
We have been waiting for at least several months for the adoption agency to call us. Hopefully that day will be soon. I think the waiting is the hardest part; how did you while away the time without going crazy?? Each day that goes by, it seems that I get more and more depressed because it's like they don't even care or have forgotten about Kirk and myself! We are trying to be hopeful, but we hate the waiting game! We want our child--and we want him (or her) NOW!!
My husband is a fisherman, and I am unemployed. I am physically disabled (multiple sclerosis), and I get disability every month. I think that my being disabled is one reason why we have had such a hard time finding an agency that would take our application, and now that we have found one, I am worried somehow that we won't get the child. I have been praying about it to the Great Spirit, and I have tried to be hopeful, but it isn't easy. It is very difficult, especially when I look at the room we had made for the child to be and see the empty bed.
I would like to read your books "A Family Made Out Of Miracles And Rainbows" and "...And The Miracles Continue: The Sandusky Family Story, Continued" (I believe those are the titles to your books); could you please send us a copy? I will be listing my physical (snail) addy with this e-mail, so you know where to send it. I will gladly pay for the books if you tell me how much they are.
Well, Louisiana, I will go for now. You will be hearing from me again. Take care and blessings upon you and your family!
Most sincerely, Uma Tullaq in Alaska.
