Laura had a problem with men. While their dominance, at times, seemed fitting, it more than often challenged her fundamental faith in equality—and she found their appeal to be maddening. It’s simply a matter of mathematics, she reasoned. When thinking is separated from feeling, formulas evolve, and balance is restored. Balance is good, she thought, and those men who could not or would not agree, were factored out. Although it had been a lonely life, it was one she preferred and at forty-five, she was, for the most part and in her opinion, finally successful....
