This week, Studio Reader Stan is tracked down by sleazy producer, Sami Ginzle.
Studio Reader Stan sits in the coffee shop when Sami Ginzle enters.
Sami Ginzle: Studio Reader Stan, I knew if I looked in enough coffee shops, I’d find you.
Studio Reader Stan: Lucky me.
Sami Ginzle: Lucky you, exactly. After you hear what I tell you.
Studio Reader Stan: I can’t wait.
Sami Ginzle: I’ve got two words for you that define the way to ultimate success. Guess what they are?
Studio Reader Stan: Uh, hard work.
Sami Ginzle: Not even close… Invisible ink.
Studio Reader Stan: Invisible ink?
Sami Ginzle: Yep. Check this out. I’ve written several ironclad contracts – all in invisible ink.
Studio Reader Stan: Well that’s not ethically-challenged at all.
Sami Ginzle: I agree. But here’s where it gets good. I then have an autograph hound track down all the major stars, whereupon they’ll unknowingly sign my contract. Then the ink reappears, and they’ll have to be in my movie.
Studio Reader Stan: That’s a horrible, horrible thing to do.
Sami Ginzle: Wrong-o. It’s genius. You have to think outside the box to make it in this business, my man.
Studio Reader Stan: What makes you think these actors would actually put up with such a lowdown scheme?
Sami Ginzle: Please. Actors are just walking props. They do what they’re told. I tell them they signed a contract, they’ll act for me.
Studio Reader Stan: Do you have any respect for this business whatsoever?
Sami Ginzle: Yes. Of course. I respect that’ll it make me filthy rich.
Studio Reader Stan: Don’t you think if you worked really hard and succeeded the right way, that’d you’d feel really good about yourself?
Sami Ginzle: No. Doing that would take too long. Then I’d just be kicking myself for not devising an invisible ink scheme that would deliver me the same success, but much, much sooner.
Studio Reader Stan: Of all the overwhelmingly demoralizing things I hear every day, that might be the topper.
Sami Ginzle: Wait, it gets better. YOU’RE going to be my autograph hound. Congratulations.
Studio Reader Stan: Based on everything I’ve said to you, what makes you possibly think I would actually help you with this?
Sami Ginzle: You’re a studio reader. I figured this has to be a step up... So when can you start?
Tune in next week for more of Studio Reader Stan's adventures...
