She brought in a piece of paper she wanted enlarged,
slaves picking cotton on Confederate bills,
$10 bill issued by Farmers & Exhange Bank,
for the color of cotton picking money!
images of slavery in Confederate and Southern currency,
these images are a smoking gun, direct evidence slavery was a vital Southern institution,
for the color of cotton picking money!
Jones commissioned to do a painting of the Charleston Slave market,
this is a story I tell that has never been told here,
on display at the African-American museum and the Black Holocaust museum,
the basic theme of black people working, and they are still working hard!
for the color of cotton picking money!
Jones painted several versions of Caravaggio's 16th Century painting of Christ being removed from the cross, he gave it to a Church, they took it down, said, "we're a black church, the people in the painting are white!"
Jones did another copy, sold it to a collector, the slave money series paintings sold for $1,500 to $8,000,
for the color of cotton picking money!

A thrill to read such an informed provocative write by a literary artist whose pen wisely respects the realities of the marketplace while holding steadfast to its chosen mission to excavate and document ignored historical truths.
