Dear Journal~
Hi~ Johnny here.
I am sitting on a bus with my family; we are heading towards Louisiana. Right now we are driving through a blinding rain storm; we are headed south towards Louisiana, where we will spend the weekend. We are going to the Crawfish Festival in Breaux Bridge, which is near Lafayette. We go every year.
This year, my sister Ronee' and myself are performing there; Ronee' is performing her own set (45 minutes or so to an hour), but I get to open for Belton Richard, who is one of the premier Cajun musicians around. He is virtually unknown outside of Louisiana, but I love his music, and so does my family (in particular, my maman and Ronee'; they are both huge fans of his). I'm a little nervous, but I am hoping I'll do alright. I pray that I do!
I have been to the Crawfish Festival lots of times; I've gone there since I can reemmber. Maman has gone there just about every year; she started going when she was a little child back in her native Louisiana; in fact, maman was born in Breaux Bridge, and she has missed very few Crawfish Festivals. When she married daddy, she took him, and when the kids started coming, well, they went too; now we go as a family to the Crawfish Festival, and we always have the best time! :)
When I'm there (if I'm not performing that is), I pig out on all the wonderful Cajun food, and I try to snag an autograph (or two) of my favorite Cajun (and country) stars. This year LeAnne Rimes is giong to be there; she's the main attraction, as is Kenny Chesney. Maybe even a few Hollywood celebs will be there, too; I wouldn't be surprised if they were; celebs like that sort of thing.
Better have my autograph book handy (not to mention my camera--with lots of film, of course!). :D
I may even get some dancing in. I'll either dance in my chair, or else someone will pick me up and hold me in their arms (just as long as they don't drop me I'll be okay!). I love to "dance" to the pretty Cajun music; all those good looking Cajun girls wanna' dance with me 'cause they think I'm sexy! (O, yeah! LOL)
I also love it because they forget I'm in a chair or on oxygen, and just for a few minutes I appear "normal" to them. That's what I like the most. People don't think of my problems, and I'd rather it stay that way.
O, if that were only true ...most of the time, it's "poor Johnny this, poor Johnny that", and it's getting to be realllly old, reallly quick! :(
I will write again in a few days, let you know how the Crawfish Festival went. I will give you a full report; stay tuned~
This is your friendly reporter on the scene, Johnny Sandusky, saying "Over and out! That's all the news for today!" (Take that, CNN or the Today Show! Watch out; I'm on your tail!)
~Love, your pal, Johnn-o. :D
(As they say on the Today show, "Where in the world is..Matt Lauer"--except in this case, it's just little ol' me! :D )
