Venkatesh Arjuwal, busy medical doctor, finally finds some time to post his third journal entry.

Saturday, September 15, 2007, 8:10 a.m. in the morning, writing from home (finally have a day off!)~

Dear Journal~

Hello. Venkatesh Arjuwal here. Just got up; I see by the glowing red numbers on my clock that it is just past eight in the morning. I haven't slept in this late since I don't know when!

I hear breakfast sounds; that must mean that Lalita is taking care of the kids. I hear little Harminder crying his hunger cry and Venkatesh, Jr. asking for his Spiderman cup.

I wonder if the girls are up...Doubt it, since it IS Saturday; they like to sleep in.

I haven't written in here in a while; haven't had a day off in over a month; it was finally starting to catch up with me, so I demanded of my supers to give me the day off or I was walking out the door and hanging up my stethescope. I know we need the money to pay our bills, but not having a day off in a month and a half is nothing short of rediculous.

Come to think of it, I am off tomorrow too, which means we can go to church services; am of the Hindi religion, but a co-worker, Dr. Wright, has invited me and my family to go with theirs to HIS church, Christ Community Assembly of God. It shall be interesting; I hope the services don't leave me confused...I am not used to religions other than my own Hindi practices. I don't really believe in the Christian God; I believe in gods of our own choosing, the Gods in the Hindi religion.

It's the way I was brought up. I was a Hindi, I will always be a Hindi. It's that simple. Case closed.

It's a beautiful day here; sunny and cool, with a hint of fall in the air. It won't be long before we will be putting away the summer clothes and getting out the winter ones, or getting out the heated blankets. We, being from India, still get cold easily, we do not like the cold very much. I don't know how people can tolerate it; if it's cold, I'm huddled in a blanket, and our family is sitting near the fireplace trying to get warm!

The girls start their schooling next week. School is due to start up again; hopefully they will continue to do well in their studies. Our older son, Venkatesh, Jr., who is eight now, will be starting college classes; he takes a few courses at university; he is expected to do well, as he is an extremely  intelligent litlte boy. He takes his other courses at the high school. All of my kids are smart; Lalita and I are most proud of them all.

I don't know what I will do today: play a round of golf, take the children to a movie or to the zoo, take them to the park, take them out to eat, or just stay home and be a slugbug, not do anything worthwhile. *grins* Hey, a guy has to have some downtime after working so much, you know!

Guess that will be up to ME to figure THAT one out. Always has to be. :)

Well, Lalita is calling, telling me that breakfast is on the table and that coffee is on. Coffee. COFfee. A man's GOTTA' have his *COFFEE*!! *yawn* I will write in here again soon; take care!

~Venkatesh Arjuwal, M.D.

A very simple to digest short story, but very good as to make oneself identifying and putting self there, kind of a familiar surrounding despite in the middle of another culture, country, customs, but... showing us that we are all brothers and sisters.

It sounds like a lovely day to be a "slugbug, not do anything worthwhile". After that much work it would be well deserved too! A very relaxing journal entry and it sets the mood for fall weather, golden leaves on the ground, waiting to be walked over on a lovely evening. Thank you, we very much enjoyed it!
