There is hope for us all

An elderly Italian man living on the outskirts of Monte Casino, makes his way to the church and enters the confession box.

"Father I have sinned," he said to the priest.

The priest askes what it is he has done.

"During the second world war I brought a young girl into my house and hid her from the German forces."

"That is not a sin, my son," the priest informs him. "You gave the girl shelter."

"But she repayed me by having sex five times a week father."

"Now that is a sin," the priest informs him. "But so long ago. If you are truly sorry in your heart, then it is alright. Go say ten Hail Mary's and you will be forgiven.

As the old man is leaving the confession box he stops briefly.

"Can I ask you a question father?" he asks.

"Yes," the priest answers.

"Do you think I should tell her the war is over?"
