Sari and Nikolas have since made up; they are back together, life is good again for the Constantinos family.

Monday, October 9, 2007, Ivalo, Finland~

Dear Journal~

Terve! Miitu kuuluu? Kiitos hyvaas!

It's me, Sari Annike, writing. I am sorry if I haven't written in a while, but I have been trying to mend our (broken) relationship, meaning Nik and myself.

I am happy to report that Nik has come back to me. He has apologized; he's seen the error of his ways. Feeling foolish, he was afraid of what I'd say or do, whether or not I'd forgive him. He just went out to clear his head for a while, get away from the stresses of kids and taking care of me.

I feel guilty, because I do have health problems; they rule my life every day. I can't help it if I am in pain, am tired, or can't get around as well as I used to.

That's what MS does: one day I am doing great, the next I am so bound by my illness it is all I can do to keep from getting out of bed because I feel so terrible.

I also have this darned fibromyalgia; it's like having arthritis of the muscles; it interrupts needed sleep. In addition, there's the chronic fatigue: no matter how much rest I get I can't seem to shake the tired feeling from my body.  By the end of the day I am so wiped, so spent, it's all I can do to keep from falling right on over.

The kids have been driving me crazy: Erik is teething, he cries constantly. Birtta is entering the terrible two phase, even though she isn't two years old yet. She cries all the time; if she doesn't get her way she throws a temper tantrum. Sometimes her crying/screaming is so loud I'm afraid the neighbors can hear her carrying on. It's embarrassing!

I am afraid people think I am abusing her or killing her. I'm scared I am going to end up in prison or have my kids taken away from me. Every night I have nightmares, wake up in the middle of the night, screaming my head off.

The weather here is cooling off: trees in blazing color, auroras starting to appear in our nighttime skies, the threat of frost some nights, days getting shorter and shorter.

Soon it will be the time of the great dark, with the sun only shining for a few hours--and then just barely peeking over the horizon. Such is the weather here in the Arctic Circle, where I live.

The summers are the opposite: warm conditions, trees ablaze with flowers and fauna, sun shining even past midnight, throwing anyone not used to the long days for a loop. The weather patterns can be so confusing.

I have heard from my friend Ilsa Rekkonen; she's doing great. Still working at university, attending classes, plans on graduating in a little over a year from now. She has always been very smart. She was sorry to hear about Nikolas, but now is glad that we've worked out our differences.

Louisiana Sandusky has written to me too: busy, busy with her family, spending time in bed due to her ballooning belly (she's having twins, both boys, due around Christmas time), dealing with more children arriving into her ever-growing family. I tell you, I still don't know how that woman does it; two kids are more than enough to do me in--and here I am ready to have a third in less than three months! (Another boy.)

Well, I am going to go now; it's really late (or really early, depending on where you're at); I'm getting sleepy all of a sudden. Until next time, this is Sari Annike saying Nakemiin for now!

~Love, your Finnish friend, Sari Annike. :)

i see a common thread here....babies...babies and more babies on the way. of course, i also see illness but that seems secondary to the families

Oooops. I missed one! Sorry 'bout that. This is good news, Sari and Nik getting back together; they just have to keep the lines of communication open. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Sari, life is like a steeplechase with ups and downs and a few hinders underways (MS, toddler teething...)but it's great to know that you aren't running alone, that people do care, and, if they can't help you to jump over an obstacle they will take the time to say a word of encouragement.
Hold on!!!!!!!!!!
Georg
