Ronee' is wishing she was in Fort Worth, Texas, at the Texas Motor Speedway, for the big race. She is a huge fan of NASCAR, thanks to her older sister, Barbara, who got her hooked on it.

Sunday, November 4, 2007 (2:23 a.m., C.S.T.--can't sleep!)~

Dear Journal~

Ronee' here. You are probably wondering what I am doin' up at nearly 2:30 in the morning. Well, the fact of the matter is this: I can't sleep. Darned old arthritis woke me up; can't fall back to sleep, so here I am. Writing in my journal, on the computer.

I am wishing I was in Texas, in Fort Worth, this weekend. See, it's the big NASCAR race for the Busch Cup series, and I am wishing I was there to see my favorite driver, Matt Kenseth, #17, take the checkered flag (hopefully!). He did pretty good yesterday, his best showing in a very long time: placed fifth in the 300 O'Reilly Challenge.

I was right proud of him. He did quite well! :) Maybe he'll do even better tomorrow, for the 500 race, the BIG 'un!

We can only hope! That'd be totally AWESOME if Matt Kenseth won!! :)

I have liked NASCAR since I was almost thirteen, almost two years now; Barbara got me hooked into it, and I have been learning about the drivers, what makes them tick, what kind of car they drive, who their sponsors are, what it takes to become a NASCAR champion; it's all very fascinating.

I have been watching the races on television; it sure is exciting! Yet it doesn't compare to being at a NASCAR event: to experience the full throttle of the NASCAR experience is incredible. The smells, the sounds of the cars roaring around the track, the excited yells of the fans, the party atmosphere, all those bright colors: wow; it's really something to see!

Not to mention, hear: those race cars sure can get noisy, especially when all of them are on the track at the same time! Sheeshamighty, but they're SUPER loud!! By the time the race is over, I can't hardly hear due to all the roars from the cars as they scream around the track!

I have been to two NASCAR races (both in Bristol, Tennessee; daddy took us) in my lifetime, and I'm hoping we go again next year. Daddy's already signed up for tickets; don't know if he'll get 'em or not. He shelled out a lot of money for the tickets, and I'm wondering if we'll end up in the poorhouse because of it; yet it's not surprising because my daddy is NASCAR nuts!! He's crazy in love with it!!

I wouldn't mind seeing my favorite driver, Matt Kenseth, in person, or on the track. I bet he is nice; he seems to be from what I've seen on television or read in magazines.

I also wouldn't mind meeting Matt in person. That'd be too cool! I can just see it now: having my picture taken with him. Yeah, man!! I can handle that...:D

Until I get lucky enough to go to another NASCAR event, I guess all I can do is dream that I am there at Texas Motor Speedway, even if only in spirit. If so, I'd be rootin' and hollerin' for Matt to take the checkered flag. I can get pretty loud when I'm rootin' for my driver; ask daddy or maman! LOL

I guess that means they're saying I have a big mouth. NICE.

Well, look who's talkin': you ought to hear daddy yelling for Jimmie Johnson, his favorite driver: I swear he's gonna' rupture his roodles for all the yellin' he does! LOL It sounds like he's about to stroke out! LOL

In any event, I will be glued to the tv today, watchin' the big show from TMS, rootin' for #17, only the BEST driver around!! Goooooooooo, Matt Kenseth!! Whoo-hoooooooooooooooooo!!

~Luv, your gal pal, Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux. :D

Too bad Ronee can't make it to the big 500. She sounds like a real strong race fan. Nice story, Karen, filled with the energy of someone who loves the topic of which she writes.
