A Christmas story of childhood memories in a little German town!

Oh Christmas tree

You’ll forever be

My dearest childhood’s memory!

They used to sprinkle footprints angel size

And then we’d see the shadows of feet

Scurrying in a hurry, by the light

Under the door

The tinkle of little bells and lametta on the Christmas tree

Lots of hurrying and scurrying

Otherwise silence

And dark

Huddled close our heartbeats became one

And then O Christmas tree

And Silent night,

And then all the other wonderful Christmas songs

Tender, beautiful embracing Christmas and its story

Gentle hugs and kisses

And thankful eyes as big as pancakes

More hugs and kisses, and candies and cake

And neighbours would gently drop in

For a warm glass of sweet wine

And someone from the neighbourhood alone

All amongst friends and of Christmas spirit

The white wax candles glimmer and throw their shadows

Like angels wings upon the darkened room

Scents of pine of spice and wax

All intermingled into one happy Christmas Eve

The town outside bathed in a blanket of snow

A holy quietness permeated every corner

Christmas candles glimmering behind each window

And then trumpets sounding cheers just before mass

All was silent, and a following of the Christ child

Entered into his holy sanctuary

Decked out in its finest lights and décor

Hello Horst,

You have beautifully captured the essence of that to which I am alluding in my "wise-guy" point of view in "I'm Dreaming of a Pink Christmas". We all want to capture such scenes from our youth.... whether or not they actually occurred.

A wonderful job.

Christmas a time of good will and to get together with neigbors and relatives. The smell of the pine branches too decorating the house. I always did love Christmas and always remember too that Jesus is the Reason for the Season. This write is a happy joyful one and I am glad I got into it now. Always can abide a Christmas Story at any time of the year.

The memories of Christmas past always make my heart light. Oh, to go back and re-live those days, even for just a moment or two, would be sheer ecstacy. Thankfully, their imprinted in my mind and heart - especially mid-night Mass.

God bless you. Kathy
