An elderly cat brings her young owner much joy.

I guess I will never know a true r companion than that of my sweet old (not to mention, fat) cat, "Misty". "Misty" (nicknamed "Misto" or "Mitt-Mitt" by me) is sixteen-and-one-half years old, yet she is still going strong.

Of course, arthritis has set in (she doesn't get around nearly as well as she used to), and her meow has gotten scratchy; yet that just makes me love her all the more. She sounds like she's angry; yet usually she's anything but. "Misty" is usually a mellow lady; nothing really upsets her world. As long as she has the Humans in her life, she's content, a regular purrbucket.

"Misty" is part Persian, part Maine Coon. She's orange and white with tabby markings, has longish fur (especially about the tail and britches), and her eyes are green/yellow/orange; they're really an odd color. She is so pretty; but when she meows, people laugh.

Sometimes I love to kiss her. She's sitting there, or lying there, on the floor, or in her basket; and she looks so cute I can't help myself. I'll then say "I'm going to give you a kiss" in a silly, singsong voice; I then plant one on her head or her side, which she loves. She'll flop over onto her side, and purr all the harder, kneading her paws in and out. It's so cute to watch her!!

I have had "Mitt-Mitt" in my life ever since I was a little girl of a year; she's always been a part of me. She and I have become the dearest of friends; I can't imagine my world without her.

Now I know that she's of advanced age (she's over 100 in cat years); she has arthritis and extremely foul breath (especially when she eats tuna; pew!!). She also has gas, cateracts in her eyes (her vision is going), and has to have a special diet for senior cats; regular food is just too rough on her digestive system. She won't be around forever; I am dreading the day to where she either passes away or we have to have her put down. I know it's going to be hard!

I can't imagine my world without my "Mitt-Mitt". She is one of a kind, and I just love her to pieces! She may be a dumb old fat cat to most people; to me, she's more than that: she's my best friend!!

Years ago, we had a cat who was with us for twelve years. He eventually had to be put to sleep because of an illness. Thanks for bringing back memories, Karen!

She sounds wonderful, too.

My best friend, Buddy the Cat, was faithfully by my side for 20 years, and in a few weeks, it will be one year since he left us, and I still can't believe he's gone.

Poor Mitt Mitt! Misto sounds like a great companion; obviously well loved, despite her advanced age. :) Well done, Karen *purring*.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
