The Adventures of Benjamin Bear, written by an amazing person Margaret Wentink who unfortunately is unable to see the happiness and laughter it has brought to many children.

Benjamin Bear Goes to School is part two of many adventures to come.

Benjamin is going to school for the first time, he will meet new friends, old friends. Come to school with Benjamin for one day to see what he does when he is at school.

Children of all ages will greatly enjoy the Adventures of Benjamin Bear and remember there will be another story after this one but I can’t ruin the surprise by telling you what is going to happen, you will have to wait and see what Adventure comes next…

Mummy Bear had been so busy during the past few weeks as Benjamin Bear would be starting school next week Tuesday. Mummy Bear had bought all his uniforms; new strong black shoes a satchel to carry any books he might need, a lunch box for his break time snacks and a bottle for his fruit juice. There were still a few odds and ends to be bought so Mummy Bear decided to buy them when she went into town today. “Perhaps Benjamin would like to come into town with me to help me choose things,” said Mummy Bear to Daddy Bear. “I am sure he would, that is if you can find him, I have not seen him for the past half an hour” said Daddy Bear.

“Benjamin, Benjamin where are you?” called Mummy Bear, “I am here!” shouted Benjamin Bear as he whizzed past his mother on his new mountain bike which he had received on his sixth birthday only a few weeks ago. Benjamin Bear loved his new bike; he rode it everyday, whenever he could.

Mummy Bear had asked him if he would like to go into town with her to buy the few odds and ends for when Benjamin starts school. “Oh, yes please” said Benjamin Bear. “Well then off you go and wash your hands and face and change into some clean clothes so we can be on our way.” said Mummy Bear. Benjamin Bear took his bicycle to the garage where the bicycle is always kept, after he ran inside to get ready to go to town with Mummy Bear.
Very soon Benjamin and Mummy Bear were ready to go into town. Because today was a Saturday, Daddy Bear did not have to go into work so Daddy Bear decided to go with Benjamin and Mummy Bear as Daddy Bear wanted to buy some books and fishing line for when he goes fishing next weekend with Benjamin Bear. Mummy and Benjamin were very happy, as they did not like waiting for the bus, which was always late taking them into town. So Daddy, Mummy and Benjamin Bear all climbed into the motorcar and off to town they went.

It was a lovely sunny day and the Bear family arrived in town with plenty of time to do all their shopping. Daddy Bear dropped Benjamin and Mummy Bear off at Mr. Warthog’s Stationery Shop and they all agreed to meet in one hour at the cafe at the end of the street. Daddy Bear drove off and Mummy and Benjamin Bear went into Mr. Warthog’s Stationery Shop. “Hello Mrs. Bear and young Benjamin Bear how are you both?” asked Mr. Warthog.

Mr. Warthog was the father of one of Benjamin’s friends whose name is Wally Warthog. Benjamin and Wally are both the same age and they would be starting school together on Tuesday, along with most of Benjamin’s friends. “Come along Benjamin, we must finish our shopping” said Mummy Bear. Benjamin began choosing his pencils, crayons, pencil case, ruler and eraser, which was in the shape of a motorcar.

Benjamin carefully placed all the items into the shopping basket, which Mummy Bear was holding. “What do you think?” asked Benjamin, “Do you think I have forgotten anything?” as Mummy Bear checked through her list. “My you are a clever boy, but you have left out one thing, you have not picked a sharpener for sharpening your pencils.” Benjamin thanked his mother for helping him, and then off he went to look for a sharpener. There were so many to choose from, but eventually he picked a lovely green one.

Mummy Bear was so proud of Benjamin. He was growing up so quickly. “Come along Benjamin, we must pay for these items” said Mummy Bear. So off they went to the counter where Mr. Warthog was busy reading the newspaper. “Here we are” said Mummy Bear, “I think this is everything we need” Mr. Warthog started adding up everything from the basket and Mummy Bear paid for the items. Mr. Warthog put all the items into a paper bag. He then handed the bag to Mrs. Bear and thanked her for doing her shopping in his shop. Benjamin Bear was so proud of himself for being able to help mummy and to choose all the things by himself.
