WWII, 500 Hungarian Jewish mashinists are taken to a mine-factory of V1 rockets in Northeastern France. Hans Castorp, as a wizard lands there in a German uniform. He helps Peter and old man Simon survive and finally escape, then he goes back into the pages of the Thomas Mann novel.

Action/Thriller, partly fantasy, partly true story.

The camp is four kilometers from the Iron mine, the hidden nest of a V1 factory. They are considered to be prime Hungarian Jewish machinist, but most of them never saw a machine. Peter gets removed from the machine by the Meister that catches him idle, gives him a pneumatic hammer to break rocks. This way he has the time to walk around the mine. The wizard takes him into a corner, tells him to call him Hans, tells him about the Allied Invasion in Normandy and then shows him an underground newspaper to prove it. Peter takes the paper into the camp to show it to his comrades. He is caught. The Commandant orders him hang, but at night the SS burn their documents, while an Allied fighter knocks out the generator. Hans instructs them how to get to Switzerland. The rest of the prisoners are taken by train into Germany.
