More "social commentary" from the kid known as "Rat-Nose".

Hey! Remember me? "Rat-Nose"?

If not, let me enlighten you. As I said earlier, my name's Mark Elijah Ratinauer, but nearly everyone I know calls me "Rat-Nose".

I'm fourteen, live with my family in McKinney, Texas. Lived in Texas all my life; born and raised here. We also have pets: two cats and a rat (the rat's mine).

I like Texas alright; however, in the summer, it's blazing hot--too hot for man or beast. When the temperature hits 100 degrees, you can find me at two places: at the pool, or inside, holed up in my room. Ahhh! Central air! :)

In the winter, it's too cold--for me, anyway--that, or rainy/stormy. I like it best when the temperature's at sixty degrees or above. Then I can go outside without a jacket and go skateboarding with my buds.

Springtime here in Texas can get interestin'. You can get storms that blow up on a dime. It can be clear, beautiful, sunny one minute, the next--BOOM! Supercells!! Bad weather comes callin', starts rearin' its ugly head.

What are supercells, you ask. Well, they're long-lived storms that can produce hail up to grapefruit size (you don't want hail that large beanin' y'all on the head! Chances are you'll either end up in the hospital or dead!), serious lightning, extremely heavy rains, or (God forbid!) the dreaded tornado.

Being in Texas all my life, I've seen plenty of supercells. Scary stuff, that! You never know when one'll pop up; and when they do--wooo-boy!! Best bar the door, Nellie, 'cause it's gonna' come up a cloud--I gar-on-tee!!

We're studying about weather and its dynamics in Science class; mighty fascinating! In fact, I wouldn't mind being a meteorologist; I love anything weather (except when it's happening right overhead; then I turn into the world's biggest chicken!! Ba-GAWK!!).

If my career at Pixar doesn't pan out, I'll go into meteorology. Be another David Finfrock. :)

David Finfrock is North Central Texas' chief meteorologist at KXAS, Dallas/Fort Worth. Channel 5. NBC. He's been in the biz over 30 years; he knows his weather: inside, outside, sideways, upside-down--you get the general idea. :)

If there's any weatherman I trust, it's David Finfrock.

Well, it's early-early (before five in the morning); if mom finds out I'm on the computer at four in the morning (four thirty seven, actually, according to my clock by the bed), she'll skin me alive! If I want to have a life, I'd best get back to bed, or it's big-time trouble for the Rat-Nose!

I'd best be going now. I'll write in here again. Goodnight; going back to sleep until the alarm goes off at six so I can get ready for school! Take care and God bless!

~Rat-Nose. :)

Hi Bud,
yeah Texas in the summer is the pits. Been there and then I always say...."the best place in Texas is the middle, you know why? Because no matter which direction you're going - you are leaving."
Love,
Becca~

Hey hey hey, we had in third grade a girl with a face much like of an hamster and was cruelly called "rat-face" it was't fun.
And she didn't took it on the stride as your "rat-nose" did.
I am with Fee though, a very interesting character.

I remember "Rat Nose" (name's kinda hard to forget LOL) - glad to see him writing again! So he wants to be an animator or meteorologist. Maybe he can design a radar system? Seems like nothing's gonna get in this boy's way (except a Mama who'll kill him if he doesn't quit getting on the computer early in the morning LOL) - well done, Karen, Rat Nose is quickly becoming one of my favorites!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
