O Death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? A mother pouring out her heart to her son.

Memories of Mother! How a loved one's death can bring a spiritual awakening... My story is this. My Mother and your grandma Margaret touched so many people's lives. She was a kind and loving mother and a wonderful grandma. Your grandma Margaret died after battling cancer for 1-1/2 years. She was eighty-seven years old and died on September 9, 2005. Her life was an awesome example to me. The last 7 days of her life I read the Psalms from the Bible from her bedside. She was at Hospice. I felt so hopeless knowing there was nothing I could do for her. Now she had not eaten for 14 days. I kept asking the Doctor how long can she live under these circumstances. She was drinking small amounts of water by syringe. The last few hours of her life were spent with my sister Valerie. I was happy about that. Then grandma, Margaret took her last breath, closed her eyes and died. No more needles, no more chemo, no more pain. We buried mother, Margaret on September 13, 2005. One of the scriptures that was read at Grandma's funeral was 1Corinthians 15:51-57. This scripture would be a revelation and answered prayer from God. Brian, I can tell you that the void and emptiness I felt was devastating. I was broken-hearted. LOST! Then one evening in January 2006 something happened. I was all alone reading the Bible. The bible is the Word of God. We communicate with words. The Word is Jesus Christ! I realized for the first time that he is really alive-JESUS! The words I verbally spoke out loud were "YOU ARE SO HOLY I CANNOT TOUCH THE GROUND THAT YOU WALK ON." In that second I finally realized why Christ died on the cross, for me and you and everyone. God is so Holy that the only way for me to get into heaven was to accept JESUS CHRIST as my personal Saviour. I started to cry and told Him that I was so sorry for everything. I felt very convicted! Just knowing that He gave His life for me on the cross. No one has ever died in my place other than Jesus! I owe everything to Him, even my entire life. The only reason I am here is because of Him. John 4:6 says, " I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man cometh unto the Father but by Me." I was born from above from God. I had a spiritual birth because God is Spirit. Brian, I gave you physical birth when you were born, just like I had when I was born, March 2, 1954 from my mother, Margaret. It is a fact that you must be born again. Read John, chapter 3. I don't set the rules of salvation, God does! Ephesians 2:8-9 says, " For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, and not of works lest any man should boast." So you see, once you know the truth and are no longer being deceived by the devil, Satan. (He is alive also that is a fact!) The truth sets you free. I know another fact for sure, I will be with God in heaven eternally forever and ever. Now sometime after I became a believer in Jesus, Valerie and I often wondered if grandma, Margaret was born again and went to heaven. Being good does not get you there. Valerie told me that Michael and her witnessed to Grandma and my brother Louie often. She felt in her heart that mother had accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour. Michael and Valerie were the instruments that led me to Christ. God does the saving-we cannot save ourselves, only Jesus. Hallelujah! Jesus became my best friend and I love Him more than anyone or anything. I am totally committed to Jesus. I rely on Him for everything. The peace He gives under all circumstances is awesome. My joy in the Lord is my strength. Your sister Allison can be a witness to this, Jesus, as she too has been born again. He has totally done miracles in her life. Supernatural! Ask her and she will tell you. She is not ashamed of the gospel news of Jesus Christ. I put my trust and faith in Him completely. Now I am a child of God, and I come boldly to the throne of God; and I ask if Grandma, Margaret is in heaven or not. I didn't have the right to ask but He is my Father and I wanted to know. So one day, maybe a year after her death; I happened to find a Bible at the Goodwill Store. As I slowly paged through the scriptures there were all these four-leaf clovers scattered throughout the different pages of the Bible. I gathered them together, there must have been twenty or more. Rare find, and being from Ireland it became a great treasure. I purchased the Bible and took all of the four-leaf clovers, and put them in a Bible that had been given to me by Michael and Valerie. I placed all of them on this page, 1Corinthians 15:51-57. Later through the week I noticed that there was one clover left in that Bible from the Goodwill Store. I thought that I had gotten them all out. Sure enough the last one left was on page 1 Corinthians 15:51-57. Here is what the scripture says, " Behold I shew you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible. And we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass that which is written. Death is swallowed up in victory. Oh Death where is thy sting? Oh grave where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us victory through our Lord, Jesus Christ."  You see my son, I know for a fact through the witness of the Holy Spirit which dwells in me, that He has my mother in heaven. "Mom you made it, you made it, praise the Lord." Satan you lost. You tried to wear her down with cancer, but you lost. Death where is your sting? Oh grave where is your victory? Victory in Jesus I can confidently say to you, that when Grandma and her cancer-ridden body took her last breath-she had won. Because she had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Why am I telling you all of this? It is because I want you to know the God of the Bible. Your sons, Jack and Joe, need to know Jesus also. I hope you have faith through the Jesus the Christ that you and my grandchildren will come to know Him as your personal Saviour. 2 Corinthians 6:2 says "Behold now is the acceptable time; behold now is the day of salvation." Would a loving God send someone to hell? The answer is NO. You send yourself. When it comes to your final destination it is your choice. If you are wrong, you have everything to lose and nothing to gain. If there is no hell, than Calvary was a tragic mistake. It is a command of God to spread the Gospel News to the lost. I am your mother and I love you.

Love and prayers,

Maggie Beck
