I wish I could record more of my story everyday, but working full time and raising my little girl, as well as being a wife does not allow for such luxuries, and the truth of the matter is I would not have a story to record had it not been for the fact that I have this life.

I am proud of my little girl, but like all children she can ask hard questions like all children do.  She wonders why her Mommy can't walk and I explain to her in a way that she can understand.   She knows that her Mommy was hurt when she was younger and that is why I can't walk, and she is sensitve to my needs, but she also understands that I am not so different than others.  I work and I remain active, although I may do things sitting down at least I am able to do things. I work and I provide for my daughter and myself and my husband works, and none of us really look at our life as different the fact that I am in a chair is just that a fact, I refuse to pity myself or to be pitied by anyone because the truth of the matter is I am blessed to be alive

Before Kyra was born I began writing my story down, and after she was born I put it away for awhile.  I am glad that I can once again record my story and show others that you can overcome, even a life changing accident.  I could have become bitter after the accident, but I choose not to do that.  I choose to look at my life as the gift it was.

I wish I could record more of my story everyday, but working full time and raising my little girl, as well as being a wife does not allow for such luxuries, and the truth of the matter is I would not have a story to record had it not been for the fact that I have this life.

When I first came home from the hospital after the accident I feared that my story had ended but now I realize one ending allows for a new begining, and I choose to embrace that new begining.  I am glad that I am here to tell my story, to share with others, and to show that you can get through the life changing moments, and actually embrace the changes you face.  I could have looked at my wheelchair as an obstacle, but now I see it as just another part of life.

To Be Continued

Michelle,
I am glad that you have been finding time for yourself, it is very important. Our roles as Mothers raising young ones & working, and the husband, and the house.....LONG LISTS!! We as woman place our selfs last -which isn't always the best thing...you can guilt free give yourself a holiday!!
