A Misty Walk In The Woods

A descriptive paragraph about walking in a misty New England wood.

A walk in the woods:

Walking in the New England coastal woods on a misty late spring day can be very calming. One enters the woods and feels quietness from daily life wrap around their body. As one walks further in, the sounds of cars and people fade into the distance. Slowly, one becomes aware of different sounds in the woods. The chirping of songbirds, the tappings of a woodpecker, the buzz of an insect, the scurrying of a small animal reverberate gently through the trees. The mist seems to mute the sounds of the woodland’s wildlife, subduing song and cries alike. One can now feel the mist starting to cling to clothing, slightly damping it. Next, one may notice the sweet smell of damp grass and earth emanating from the woods. Walking along the path, feet squish slightly into the moist trail. Every so often, a light breeze drifts through the woods, ruffling the leaves on plants and trees. It is ever so slowly blowing the mist out of the woods. Soon, the dampness will fade and warm spring sun will return. The woods will take on a different feel then, bright, loud, and vibrant in the joy of sunshine. For now though the woods remain a hazy haven from a hectic world.

Excellent, and I just love the way you describe the surroundings. It is like almost being there. Keep up the good work. Hugs, Katie
