The Dream: The Great War Part I

“Captain, the rebels have entered the harbor section, the men down there can’t hold them of!” The caption looked at the officer and rubbed his chin.

“Send reinforcements now!” The officer ran out of the room and ran outside to sound the alarms. The soldiers jolted up and ran towards the harbor, the officer looked in the direction of the harbor and let out a gasp of horror. There was a large cloud of smoke and a boom that rattled the whole base.

“Damn those Rebels! They destroyed the whole harbor!” The officer ran down to the harbor as fast as he could and brought out his rifle. The Rebels aren’t very well trained, and their commanders and captains are Ex-Imperials, so they have a bit of war tactics. There leader Captain Junh Lok was a fierce fighter, he was an Ex-Imperial Officer. He quit the army after he heard that the Elves army has gotten back together. The officer could see the Rebels caption in the back commanding it all from his spot. The Rebels mostly had spears and some had rifles but they had lots of explosives.

“Never give up men!” Captain Junh yelled to all of the Rebels and he charged at the Imperials. He drew out his sword and sliced the nearest Imperial in half. The blood splashed onto Junh’s face but he keep on running, his goal, the officer. He jump onto a near by cargo container and jumped up and sliced a solider standing next to him and ran on. Closer, closer. He had him in view he took a mighty jump into the air and then…

“BANG!!” He felt a sharp pain in his back, he then fell to the ground and laid there, until one of his soldiers came to his side, it was Laos; he grabbed the captain and ran back to the boat they came on.

“Plant the C-4 and get the hell out of here!!” he shouted and the Rebels fell back, leaving C-4 in there place. They all returned to the ship and then they pulled the trigger. The whole south side of the base was destroyed and the Rebels all cheered.

“Uhh Laos, how bad is it….” The captain asked when they got back into the medics area.

“Well to be truthful... not so good, you have a lead bullet stuck in your back and the nurse is going to have to operate,” Laos said, his smile turned to a frown and hurried faster to the medic room.

“Hurry we have a wounded solider coming in!!” he sat the Captain down on the table and stood back while the nurse looked at him.

“This is going to hurt now...” She injected some sort of sleeping medicine and Junh fell asleep.

The operation lasted about an hour; the bullet was in there pretty deep. They bandaged Junh up and he had to rest up before doing any more fighting. Laos was now in command; he had to direct the next assault on the Imperials. This was his first mission without the help of Junh. So he was a little nervous.

They were now supposed to attack the north watch tower at the base in Derak. The tower wasn’t very well guarded so they had an easier time getting through, until an officer came with his squad. Laos gathered his men and told them to stand their ground battle is coming. The Imperial officer told his men to charge. The Rebels not well equipped for this battle, but tried as hard as they could to allow the demo team enough time to set the charge. Laos ran into battle and sliced at an Imperial. His blade went straight through him and knocked over the over man standing next to him. Laos jumped on top off him and slammed his sword into the man’s stomach.

Then another Imperial squad came from over the horizon. Laos shouted for his men to hurry up with the charge, but it was too late, the demo team was already dead. Laos lost all control and charged at the men who killed the demo team. Laos swung hard and decapitated one of the men and then was about to stab the other when he felt a sharp pain in the back of his head. He looked back, eyes growing dark to see the officer standing there with a club. Then everything went black, and he collapsed.

“Sir we have caught a squad of Rebel soldiers sir! They attempted to plant a C-4 charge on the northern watch tower.” The officer reported back to the General.

“Good, good, good. I think I see a promotion in your horizon First Lieutenant.”

“Fi...Fir...First Lieutenant! Thank you so much sir!” The now Lieutenant, walked out of the room and went to his normal business. As the general sat there he started to think about the Elvin army, if there going to attack or not. The Elvin army is one of the strongest armies in the world. What would he do if they did attack? He went to his room to take a rest.

When Laos woke up he was inside a jail cell and all of the other Rebels that went with him were there to. He had no clue how to get out, there were guards and the cell was made of reinforced steel. He laid there and didn’t know what to do; he was a prisoner of war.

“Men I am very sorry for our lost today.” Laos stood up and looked at the remaining soldiers that he has left after the battle.

“Captain, do not say sorry for things that you could not help. You commanded us bravely and we all fought fiercely, just the Imperials outnumbered us by so much!”

“I thank you for that; I just hope that we will all survive this experience that we are all about to share. Rest up men, we are for sure in for a bumpy ride.” Laos sat down and propped his back up against the way. He looked around at all of his men; they all looked scared and nervous. He thought to himself that he knows he could have done better and then these fine men would not be here, and either would he. He closed his eyes and dozed off.

News got back to the Rebels base and the General was furious! He just lost his best Captain and lots of good soldiers. He finally decides to attempt a breakout. He was going to send in a special squad of troops to try and blow up the east Tower while the Imperials were pre-occupied he will send in a demolition team to blow the wall to break out his troops. Then they will all fall back to the carrier and get the hell out of there.

When he thought of this he told his soldiers what is going to happen, he gathered the necessary amount of soldiers and told them the plan. They all agreed to the Plan and were sent out to fulfill the Generals idea. They march to the carrier and took off. The officer then started to brief his men.

“Men this is what the plan is.” The officer stood up and looked at all of his men.

“Are main priority is to get back Captain Laos and his men. Squad one you will go to the east tower and attempt to blow it up, this will cause the Imperial scum to run over there thinking we are attacking again. While they are occupied with this we will send our demo team to blow the wall to the prison to release our men. Then we all run to the carrier and get the hell out of here! Any questions men?”

“NO SIR!!”

“Good let’s get this done right so we can all go home tonight.”

Laos laid there trying not to think of what will happen to him and his fellow mates. He looked out the window to see to his surprise, the Rebels carrier was zooming around. It landed near the east tower and he could see the troops pile out of it. He also saw a little convey, with about five people in it. They were headed straight for the jail. The sirens went of and he could see the Imperials race out of there quarters and into the fight.

“Keep them busy men! We need about 10 minutes to let the demolition team blow the wall and free are people!” The Captain was Leon, Laos’s older brother; he was standing there looking proud and drew his sword to get into some of the action. He ran down the hill and into the crowd of fighters. As he ran into the crowd the demolition trunk got nearer to the jail.

“Hey guys get away from the wall!!” Laos and the others step away from the wall, and crouched down. Then BOOM the wall blew apart and the soldiers jumped out of the cell and started to run for the carrier. The Imperials didn’t notice the jail break until it was too late; the Rebels were all ready in the carrier when the Imperials ran into the jail cell to cheek on the prisoners.

“Sir, the prisoners escaped from the jail! We suspect that the Rebels created a diversion to blow up the east wall and set free the prisoners!”

“Good God! Damn those Rebels! They ruin ever thing. Send some more troops out to intercept the carrier, NOW!” The Officer ran out of the room and sounded the alarm, the soldiers all went after the carrier.

“Sir, the Imperials are trying to shoot down are carrier!”

“Send in the tactics squad now!” The tactic squad was sent out to kill off the gunners down under the carrier. The captain of the squad jumped down, sword out, and forced his sword through the soldier’s helm. Pulled it out ran towards the closest gunman and slice his head of, the blood dripped down his sword and on to his hand. A guy from behind him grabbed him by the neck and started to squeeze. The captain smiled and laughs.

“Fool!” He turned around swiftly and grabbed the Imperials face, shoves his sword into his stomach, slices his torso off and ripped his head clear off his neck. The blood sprayed wildly and the captain dropped the head.

“Sir the gunners are all dead, bring us back up!” A ladder dropped from the carrier and the troops climbed up into the belly of the carrier. They sat down in there seats and took off…

“General! We have received news from the 23rd carrier, and it said that they successfully brought back the captured soldiers.”

“Excellent, when will they be back here at the base?”

“They are here now sir!”

“Good, good…” The officer ran off and the general sat there stroking his chin. ‘What did the imperials want with my men’ He then got up and walked down the stone steps and made his way to the mess hall, where the soldiers have gathered.

“Men, the Imperial scum caught some of are finest men, the prisoners thought that it was the end for them, but we the Rebels have once again made the Imperials pay the price for the pain and suffering of these fine young men.” The whole mess hall went up into cheers and screams of joy and victory. Laos, one of the prisoners, step up from his spot to the podium.

“Men, I Laos was the officer that they caught. I thank you all for saving my life and the other soldiers lives also. We all thank you!” The mess hall once again went into a cheering frenzy. Laos went back to his position and the general step back up. He raised his hands and shouted, at the top of his longs, LONG LIVE THE REBELS! He then walked towards the exit door to go back to his room. Laos was behind him and grabbed the general’s shoulder.

“Sir, while in jail I heard them talking about a surprise attack on us some time in the next week or so and also…….”

“They formed an alliance with the Tech people; a Tech emissary is coming three days from today to make negations… I’m pretty sure that they said the Elves have been storming through all of the Imperials land also. They are rumored to have made camp some were south of Juko….”

“JUKO!! That’s only thirty miles from here!! But if they attack us then it will be over!! The Elves beat the Ancients and for gods sake we can’t even beat the Ancients!!

Well right now that Tech emissary is are number one target. Do we have any ninjas that can be sent out in about five hours?”

“Yes sir, I think we do. I will report back to you when I get one. SIR!”

“Good, good.” The general walked to his chair and sat down looking worried and angry at the same time. ‘If the imperials make an alliance with the Techs I just don’t see how we can possibly take over there land’ he decided to go to bed. It was getting late and he needed his rest.

“Guard, when officer Laos comes tell him to leave a message. I will be in my room.”

“Sir, Yes, Sir!” The general walked into his room and flopped down on his bed….
