I do not know how old I am, Mamma Missy says I am between seven and nine, but we can't be sure, Dalit children do not get to celebrate birthdays, so I do not know how old I am, but Mamma says I am no longer a Dalit, I am her little girl, and she wants me to celebrate my birthday, so we will celebrate every year, and I will get Cake and Ice Cream and everything.

July.29.08

My name is Anuragini, but before I came to Mamma Missy I did not have a name, children like me did not have any worth in our society, I was made to take care of my little sister, who did not have a name either, I miss her, Mamma Missy says she is going to try and find her, and I can have her with me, and she wont be made to be like a slave.

Mamma says that the name Anuragini means beloved, and she gave me that name because she wanted me to know that she really loved me, I am happy I am with Mamma Missy.

Before I came to America, I did not know how to talk in English or Indian, but now I can talk English well, Mamma Missy says she is proud of me, and that make my heart feel good inside.

I like going to church, and watching television, we did not have t.v where I used to live, we lived in a shack, and did not get to eat alot of food, I remember our bellies always hurt, and sometimes I would have to steal, that's wrong but Mamma says God would understand, i hope Mamma Missy finds my sister.

I am going to go now, we are going to watch a movie and then go to bed.

Bye for Now Anuragini~

A whole new, exciting world is opening up for Anuragini. What a beautiful little girl she is; a most satisfying (if educational) read! Very well written, Michelle; brava!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
