‘I am sorry I came inside you’
Panic was written all over her face. ‘Are you ovulating?’
What the hell is he talking about? she thought…
The look in her eyes told him that she did not understand him
So he said ‘when is your safe period?’
No response.

                               SEX AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN!

The first time was in Porthacourt somewhere in Nzimiro Street, in a boys’ quarters! He told her to come at 12:00 noon She looked at the wall clock in the living room nervously. At 11:30 she took her notebook and walked to the door!

“Nkem where are you going?” the maid asked

 ‘to the library,’ she said

‘Read well! Jamb is difficult I heard’

She nodded and smiled.

No response.

She walked down the road and took a cab. She asked the driver to stop yards away from the gate so she could clear her head.

When she got to his door she knocked and he opened and asked her in. she sat on the plastic chair, he asked her if she wanted to something to drink. she declined, but he insisted and she agreed to a bottle of coca-cola.

She watched him from the corner of her eye and saw him looking at her.

The radio was playing Sade’s ‘Smooth Operator’. He asked her to dance, she refused because she was shy, and he pestered her till she gave in. They danced slowly, body parts touching, and he kissed her till her knees became jelly. he stripped her of her clothes doing it gently till he got to her briefs. she tried to resist but he kissed her neck and all resistance flew out of the window leaving her as nude as the day she was born.

He continued to kiss her and caress her body. and she soon became wet.. When he wanted to go into her she found her voice.

‘I have not done this before’

‘you will be doing it now.

‘Use protection’

‘I am clean and you are too young to have any diseases either!’

‘I don’t want to get pregnant my mum will kill me.

‘I won’t come inside you.’

‘I am scared!

‘You don’t have to be. I am not killing you’ besides no need for protection when

Making love to a virgin.

‘Will it hurt?

‘I will take it nice and slow and it won’t hurt.’

‘Are you sure?’

‘Trust me! You will enjoy it!’

She tried to speak again and he shut her up with a kiss and starts to thrust into her. She felt a sharp pain and then she felt something searing into her and

She screamed but he did not stop or pause. he kept thrusting harder and harder oblivious of the fact that she was crying. He kept at it till he came.

He pulled out of her and stood up and lit a cigarette. Then he walked into the bathroom.

She could hear the sound of water and she knew he was having a bath. She lay there too ashamed and scared to stand up. She looked at her clothes scattered on the floor and sighed.

He came out from the bathroom and grabbed his boxers from the wardrobe and asked her to

‘Go and clean up’.

She stood up and looked at the bed there was blood on it. She looked away quickly and made to grab her clothes but he tossed a towel at her instead and lit another cigarette.

She entered the bathroom and tried to shut the door but it had no lock so she

Turned on the tap and started to bathe. She washed her body with all the soaps there trying to wash out all the sex by scrubbing hard till her genitals hurt.

her thighs hurt. Sex must be torture, she thought and walked back to the room. She grabbed her clothes from the floor and made to go back into the bathroom

‘Are you shy?’ he said, not looking at her

No response.

‘I have slept with you and you are still shy!’

‘Loosen up jare’

‘I am sorry I came inside you’

Panic was written all over her face. ‘Are you ovulating?’

What the hell is he talking about? she thought…

The look in her eyes told him that she did not understand him

So he said ‘when is your safe period?’

No response.

‘What do you know sef?’

‘Okay when last did you see your period?’

‘9th of every month’ she whispered

‘Shit’ he yelled and grabbbed a shirt and pair of jeans.

‘I am going to the pharmacy on the next street, you need postinor 2.’

She nodded, and he wentout of the room and slammedthe door behind him.

What the hell was posti-whatever he called it?

She wore her clothes hurriedly and sat down.

If she ever got pregnant she could not abort it and her Mum would kill her.

She was lost in her thoughts. sex was not as heavenly as Mills and Boon described it!

She remembered all those adverts on the billboards that screamed

She did not orgasm nothing, the guy was not a Greek god neither did he take her to a yacht in the Mediterranean.

He came in thirty minutes later and gave her a glass of water and a pill so tiny She could swallow without water. she refused to swallow and insisted that she wanted to read the prescription. He replied

‘I have been using postinor for years. It is the best after unprotected sex.’

She looked at him dazed.

‘You think you’re the first woman I have slept with?’

‘Take the drug jare’.

She swallowed the tablet and took a glass of water.

‘Take the other one after 12 hours. If you forget you are on your own.’

She nodded and stood up to leave. He came after her and tried to grab her waist. she hit his hand, opened the door and hurried out.

She walked down the road - with her face to the ground, thinking to herself.

They are looking at me and they know what I have done

The woman who sold roasted corn on the road. The shoe shiner. The maigadi.

She kept walking

She was no longer a virgin.

She was only 15.
