Johnathon Sandusky writes about his innermost feelings regarding the (presidential) election of the other day.

11/7/'08, Nashville, Tn., 6:21 a.m., C.S.T.~

Dear Journal~

Johnathon here.  Thought I'd write, offer you my views regarding the recent outcome of our presidential election.

Now while I am considered too young to vote, I did have my choice for president.  Unfortunately, my choice didn't have a prayer.  He got creamed by the other presidential elect.  That's right.  Obama, Barack Obama, is now our new president-to-be; and as a result, history was made in our nation.

Barack Obama is Black.  He's the first African-American person to be sworn in as president.  Such a huge accomplishment!!

Many Americans voted for him; they are tired of how things have gone under the Bush administration.  Never has there been a president with such low approval ratings; people are ready for change.  Seems like there was an awful lot of mudslinging on the Republican side of things, but the only ones getting dirty were not the candidates themselves, but the American people.

Sad.

As a result, our nation has become the Divided States of America.  Never has there been such anger, frustration by our people, and as a result, we've become apathetic, uncaring.  This concerns me because we've become like we were prior to September 11, 2001:  complacent, inconsiderate, boorish, even to the point of being rude.

Now, I'm not like that, but I've seen plenty of people who are, and I don't like it AT all!

I just hope Barack Obama can unite our nation!!  We need to unite!!

The only problem I am having with Barack Obama is some of his ideals.  He wants to allow abortion up to seven months; I personally think abortion is wrong, and I think it should be made illegal.  He also wants to grant rights to gay/lesbian couples, and that's an issue I don't understand or agree on.

I personally think the sanctity of a marriage should long be preserved; a marriage should be between a man and a woman, not a man and a man (or a woman and a woman)!  It may be their choice, but to me, it doesn't make any sense at all!  It only leaves me feeling more confused than ever!

He also wants to give legal citizenship to the 12 + million illegal citizens living in our nation.  While this may be in good for them, I have a problem with that.  They did not come to our nation legally.  They broke the law in order to get here.  In my eyes, that makes them criminals.  They ought to be punished; after all, I got here legally when I came here from Germany when I was a baby!  If I can do it the right way, then why can't these illegals who are now here??  It's crazy!!

Now while I realize some of my views may alienate me from my friends (or others), right now, I don't freakin' care.  I know what I believe in, and there's no way I'm backing down!  It's just that I wonder what's gonna happen to our nation, our future; I fear for her, feel an uncomfortable nudge in my spirit that I can't quite put my finger on.

Looks like I am going to have to do some serious prayer time, so I can pray for our nation; we need a spiritual revival and God's blessings upon us once again!  We are in trouble, serious trouble!

All I can say is this:  God bless America again, and may He have mercy upon her and her people!!

~Johnathon, aged 15 1/2.  :(

I am sure there are many people with such sentiments - those who call themselves Christian are called to pray for the leaders of our country without ceasing. Barack will need all our prayers for leadership, Godly wisdom, integrity of spirit, the fruits of the spirit, belief in sanctity of life. Perhaps never in our country's history will one leader have so much prayer upon him. Perhaps that is the quest.
