Bob is such a sweetie. And a rare find these days.
Meet Bob.
Bob is an average American who believed anything is possible.
After high school, Bob decided to serve his country.
His career is as follow:
Started as military professional. Served from 1964 to 1970
Mobile Strike Force Commander with 5th and 3rd Special Forces Regiment
Six (6) tours of duty in Viet Nam (volunteered)
Two (2) tours in the Congo (volunteered)
Four (4) years as a clandestine U.S. Intelligence officer
Contracted with U.S. Secret Service to organize and train counter terrorist units.
Honorable discharge from US Military. (After his military life)
Graduate in Business Administration (Bachelors degree) at ULCA
Masters degree with dual emphasisin finance and industrial relations.
Ph.D. from business school at Oxford in England.
Corporate Exec. & consultant for a number of major companies including New York Life Insurance; The Boeing Corporation; Bank of New York; and the world’s largest corporation at the time: General Electric (G.E.)—remember the slogan? “We bring good things to life.”
Executive Director of the Screen Writers’ Guild
Testified more than a dozen times before United States Congress as an expert on current
and future costs of various public policy matters.
Guest Lecturer and adjunct professor in graduate schools: Three of them: Wharton, Stanford, and Harvard.
In 1985 became Sr. Vice President of corporate development for 20th Century Fox, now known as FOX Corporation.
Served as a right hand man to Barry Diller, a billionaire who purchased, among a few things, Expedia.com for 5.1 billion, and spend a few more billion to own Hotwire, Hotels.com, Orbitz. Seligman describes Diller as not someone who did a lot of talking, he was a visionary and did things other people thought were a bit “off.” Like ignoring his finest start up, The Home Shopping Network. Diller made up all $5.1 billion inside of 3-4 years with Expedia.com than he did in 25 years of owning HSN. People who laughed are not laughing.
So if you have friends who are Hotwire, Hotels.com, Expedia or Orbitz loyalists, they are the ones whom Barry Diller is NOT paying to travel. He taketh from the poor and giveth nothing back.
What you need to here before even THINKING about owning any kind of business…follow Bob's advice, even if you don't choose YTB. It’s pretty deep even for a business minded person!
BOB IS A BLESSED INDIVIDUAL, HIS ACHIEVEMENTS ARE CERTAINLY VERY INTERESTING AND INSPIRING. THANKS FOR SHARING THIS INFORMATIVE STORY.GOD BLESS. JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
