Chalise says:

I thought id start a blog because so many people assume things that are not true , they want to box ppl with Spina Biffida and not think that we are all different

what is true for one may not be true for another

Rachel says:

yeah, I can relate to that, people don't know about Muscular dystrophy either

Chalise says:

Hi I just read your blog I thought I would see about talking to you

it seems we have alot in common

Rachel says:

yeah, I think so

Chalise says:

I thought id start a blog because so many people assume things that are not true , they want to box ppl with Spina Biffida and not think that we are all different

what is true for one may not be true for another

Rachel says:

yeah, I can relate to that, people don't know about Muscular dystrophy either

Chalise says:

I know

It gets maddening doesn't it, they assume that we all are incapable and dependendent on everyone for everything

Rachel says:

yes, the see me and think I have CP

Chalise says:

they see me when I am not in my chair and think that I am faking it because I can walk, but for distances I use my electric scooter

And they either want to run away from me like I have the plague or treat me as if I am a toddler

Rachel says:

I can't walk anymore, I have to use my chair even in the house now

people treat me like I have brain damage

Chalise says:

Ugh I am sorry about that

I could tell from your blogs you are intelligent

Rachel says:

they talk to me like I'm an infant

I like the internet b.c people don't treat me like I'm an idiot on here

Chalise says:

thats just plain ignorance

Rachel says:

yeah, it is

and very frusterating

Chalise says:

I know I get frustrated too

Rachel says:

I bet

and people are always assuming things about what my disability does to me

Chalise says:

same here

Rachel says:

like that my disease affect my mental ability

they think I am mentally deficent

I think that is the hardest thing

Chalise says:

yeah I agree

Rachel says:

I am a reasonably intelligent person

Chalise says:

I got to go take some of my meds

Rachel says:

ok

Chalise says:

sorry it took so long but you know how it goes

I am getting tired though so it must get off it was really great talking to you, I finally feel as if I have someone who can listen

Rachel says:

yeah, I need to start my nightly routine

Chalise says:

Ok maybe we can talk again tomorrow?

Rachel says:

I'd like that

Chalise says:

Alright I will be looking at more of your blogs too

Great write, Michelle, with a powerful lesson that we all can learn from; this is what I try to convey in the stories I write. Just because a person is disabled, that doesn't make them less human. A feeling we both know too well; ugh! Well done; brava!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

This is great Michell. Maybe it can help inform people about people who have disabilties. Awesome!

With Love,
