As the night ends and a new day begins you can see the daylight as it breaks through the darkness, but it does so in a slow pace. It does not work like a light switch, where you can have light instantly when you flick the switch. No, daylight takes time to manifest itself as the sun starts to rise. So it is with our Christian life.
When you become a born again Christians, you will need to start your walk with Christ in a steady and continuance progress. It like running a race, you need to pace yourself so that you can endure to the end. If you go too fast you will soon tire out, and if you go too slow you will never complete the race.
When you become a Christian only your spirit gets regenerated. The flesh which is our body and the mind are still the same. It takes time to reprogram the mind into God thinking, direction, and way of life. It’s like becoming a new person but part of the old person is still there. You need to get rid of the old way of life. You need to transform your mind into a new way of thinking.
A running back, in a football game doesn’t become good overnight it takes him years of practice. Even though he gets millions for being able to catch the ball sometimes he may drop it. The reason he drops it is because he’s thinking of running for a touchdown before he has his hands completely on the ball. As Christians we must be rooted in God’s word before we start to run the race.
You need to bring the flesh under subjection. The flesh will always desire to do the things of the world.
Like David who was too small for Saul’s armor we are children in Christ. When we become born again Christians we must grow into our spiritual armor before we can be really to do battle. We cannot fight any spiritual battles without our armor. How do we grow into our armor? We need to feed our born-again spirit the word daily.
The Israelites when they went through the wilderness, they were learning to know, love, and understand God. We as baby Christians must learn to crawl before we can walk. Sometimes new Christians tend to walk before they learned to crawl. What I am trying to say is that when you become a new born again spirited fill Christian you want to tell everybody about your experience and you want to do all you can for Christ.
It’s good that you have the excitement and joy of being in Christ. You have to learn to be strong in the Lord to withstand all that the enemy will throw at you. This is a time when you’re learning to crawl. Let us not try to walk or run before we can crawl.
