Give Me 60- A Writing Exercise

I have been concerned that some of my writing has become overly verbose, so I developed an exercise in writing a story in 60 words or less...this first attempt was about 62 words.

That day in November so many years ago, still haunts me like a bad dream. Walking down the hallway going from one class to another at the small college I attended, I heard one student say to another…”man can you believe it?” “No man, what happened?” They walked a few more steps and the first guy said, “We have one less Catholic to worry about, John Kennedy is dead.”

Whew, that was a close one, hope you can write more about these provocative subjects. Yes, more is sometimes... :)

Ultra flash, non-fiction? I don't think you are overly verbose but this is slam dunk excellent. Patrick

Well penned story! Isn't it amazing how carefully chosen words can deliver such a powerful impact?

wOW! Well sparing of words, but says a lot. I was in high school when it's one of the seminal events for everyone of that era.

Excellent. I started my "100 words" in similar vein after getting angry with an editor who wanted my culture stories to be limited to 800 words! Best of luck.
