Happy Father's Day Song and Story - memories of my dad and a song dedicated to him
One of my late dad's (Andres N. Horcasitas Jr.) most recognized quotes was "C'est la vie," which is French for "Such is life." While he was of Spanish descent and had his share of Hispanic quotes, the French one was most related to his personality. I certainly inherited his eternal optimism that he would exhibit so readily when coping with life. As a Tulane Graduate who endured 25 years of losing to LSU in football till 1973, he certainly had to make that commentary for quite awhile! Thanks, Dad, for helping me to always look at the positive side to life and death. Here's a song (attached) that I dedicated to him: "Happy Father's Day"

This is a song for my daddy
And for all other daddies too
We all have/had one in our lifetime
So let's honor them for true
This is a special day
For it comes just once a year
Father's Day is for our papas
Let's celebrate it with a cheer - so let's sing:
Happy Father's Day
Happy Father's Day
We love our fathers dearly
They've loved us all the way
When we got in trouble
It sure seemed like it was hell
We know that they really loved us - shucks,
They've brought us up so well
Now my daddy was a bachelor
They said that he was confirmed
He had some dates and one with Rosita
But plumpness was not what he yearned
He went to get his eyes checked up
And met a Kleinpeter, Mercy, by name
His eyes abruptly got refocussed
His bachelorhood lost its fame - so let's sing
Now I came along as a mistake
Out of rhythm, I was number three
After Helen and David, I'm the caboose
I came unexpectantly
I used to like my daddy's thumb
He taught me Little League baseball
He's always been a super dad
To me, the greatest one of all - so let's sing
