I lost my leg when I was in an accident a couple of years ago. I was fourteen at the time, and in many ways it felt like my world was crashing in around me, being fourteen is hard enough, but when something like that happens you.
I decided after awhile though feeling sorry for myself just wasn't going to cut it instead I wanted to help others, and at the age of sixteen that is exactly what I am doing. I have been raising money or helping to raise money for people who need prosthetic limbs and can not afford them.
The good Lord knows they are not the cheapest thing in the world, but anyone who wants the freedom they offer deserves it.
I know I am grateful for my prosthetic leg, I went through extensive therapy and now most of the time unless i am wearing shorts or a dress people can not tell, but I don't mind talking about it, because I want others to see that a disability does not have to slow you down.
I can do everything anyone else does with my leg on, and when its off I manage just fine too. I am not one to let anything slow me down, because I want to get things accomplished.
I plan on continuing helping others throughout my life, and when I graduate from Highschool and College I dream one day to write childrens books about kids with disabilities, especially young adults, because I have noticed they have far to few, where kids with disabilites are acurately portrayed.
Well I am afraid it is getitng late, and I have to be up early for school in the morning. Just thought I'd write about what I am doing.
Pray that I can reach others too?
