Well, I posted this in poetry first because it rymes, but having thought about it, it is a childrens story meant for a book so I am reposting here.

There was an old car parked under a bridge

I don't know why the old car was parked under the bridge

but there it sat under a bridge parked all alone on top of a ridge.

There was an old man dressed in old rags

Sleeping on top of some crumpled up bags that sat inside the car that sat under a bridge parked all alone on top of a ridge.

I don't know why the old man dressed in old rags

was sleeping inside the car on top of the bags

But there he was, dressed in old rags, sleeping on top of the crumpled up bags that were piled inside the car that sat    under a bridge parked all alone on top of a ridge.

There was an old dog who sags

lying under the old car, that sat under a bridge, parked all alone on top of a ridge
with an old man inside dressed in old  rags sleeping on top of the crumpled up bags.

I don't know why the old dog who sags

was under the car parked  under a bridge,

that sits all alone on top of a ridge
with an old man inside dressed in old rags
sleeping on top of the crumpled up bags,
but there he was  fast asleep

until a big noise boomed out on top of the bridge.

It startled the dog sleeping under the car

it startled the man sleeping inside the car

that was parked under a bridge on top of a ridge.

The old man in rags came stumbling out

to see what was clambering and moving about.

The old dog came out from under the car

barking his warning to near and far.

Which startled old man who jumped with fright

for he thought he was alone hidden from sight.

The old boney dog coward to the ground

still barking his warning with a very loud sound.

But the old man in rags who was sleeping on bags

saw the bones of the dog when his belly sagged

and said to the old dog laying on the ground.

are you hungry old boy come see what I found

So the old man pulled from his pocket with a grin

his last piece of bacon for his new friend.

the old man in rags and the old dog that sags

became best friends and slept together on bags

inside the car parked under a bridge

Still parked today on top of a ridge.

This has a "nursery rhyme" style to it and I think it expresses more than one might think at first glance. Thank you, Karen. Love and best wishes,

Regis
