A couple of days ago, early in the morning at around 5.15 AM, I was going for a walk in our school ground . It was somewhat dark but I could still find my way around the jogging track. It was quiet and I was enjoying the silence. Suddenly from somewhere I could hear grunts and mild roars. I decided that it could be those wild boars which frequent our campus from the adjacent forest. I slowed down and became careful to avoid going into a possible collision course with the wild boars. I have heard that they are nasty animals with those tusks curling out of their mouths.
Quite challenging it was to judge their location in the dark so that I may move away from them. As I moved closer to a half-completed wooden platform being built for the upcoming sports day, the noise became louder. They must be there, I thought, under the platform and nibbling at the grass or some plant.
As I was trying to move away from that place, a thought suddenly struck me. Did it sound like a snore? I put the bits of information, my observation and evidences altogether. The upcoming sports event - half finished stage - grunts and roars resembling a snore. Yes, may not be the wild boars...
I gathered courage and went to the platform. The space below the platform was covered with cloth on all sides (why would they cover the space below if the platform is going to be used as a stage for the event?) Gently I moved the cloth a bit aside and peeped in. On the floor inside I could make out two human figures fast asleep and snoring aloud. They must be very tired after a day's hard work. And the cloth screens? To protect themselves from the night's chill.
Now that the mystery is solved, I resumed my walk enjoying the silence once again, ofcourse with the snore at the background.
