What Happened At Jimmy's.

A young boy sees a neighbor being carted off to the hospital by ambulance, and he wonders what could have possibly happened to him.

Just a few hours ago, we had some excitement.  It's the kind of excitement I could do without ...

Our neighbor across the street had to go to the hospital.  A fire truck, two police cars, and an ambulance came.  We didn't know anything about it until I happened to see the window behind us glowing blood-red.  When I peered out, this was when I saw the vehicles parked in front of Jimmy's house.

I ran outside, to see if I could get any information.  I did know this much:  there wasn't any fire, and I didn't smell any smoke.  Small blessings.  It had to be something medical.  Or maybe Jimmy's mom went off on one of her bi-polar moments again.  Who knows??

I was watching Jimmy's house, to see if I could see anything.  I could see people moving inside, but not much else.  Then I saw two EMT's carrying a stretcher out the door and to the ambulance.  A young kid was on it.  It looked like Jimmy's little brother.  He wasn't moving, and his eyes were closed.  I said a quick prayer to Heaven, asking God to watch over the boy on the stretcher.

Jimmy then came over to tell us that his brother had been sniffing glue and passed out cold.  He couldn't wake him up, so he called for the ambulance. He said they didn't need this other junk arriving (meaning the cop cars or the fire truck).  His brother is only nine, just a little kid.

Jimmy's family has a lot of problems.  His mom is bi-polar and sometimes goes off when one least expects it, or else she's uber happy.  His dad ran out on them when Jimmy was real little.  And his brother sniffs glue, as a way of "getting high".  In addition to that, their older sister, who's sixteen, ran away from home and has been seen downtown, hanging out with the prostitutes.  His family's really messed up.  The only one who isn't is Jimmy himself.

I'm surprised Jimmy hasn't gone psycho.  If I were in his ehoes, I'd be wigging out at any chance I could get, raging out against the world for "ruining" my family.

Anyway, I don't know much since Brad left by ambulance.  Jimmy seems upset about it.  Don't blame him.  I just hope Brad is gonna be okay.  I will have to include him (as well as Jimmy) in my prayers tonight before I go back to bed ...
