If I see one more tamale, I think I might lose my appetite ...
That's what I get for downing at least a dozen tamales at the party I went to yesterday at my friend's house. It was his birthday; he invited me and some other friends over to his house for the celebration.
The main course: tamales, of course. They also had a choice of enchiladas, tacos, and sopapillas. My friend is Mexican; his folks came from Mexico just before he was born. They have taught me to enjoy Mexican food, music, and culture. I love Mexican food, but I don't think I will be eating any tamales for a while.
I don't know what possessed me to eat a dozen tamales, but the fact of the matter is this: they looked so yummy and smelled so good cooking, I could not help myself. One tamale led to two, then two led to three, and so forth. It wasn't long before I ate a dozen.
Pedro's mami got a little annoyed with me. She said, "Eric, please leave some tamales for the rest of the guests!" and his papi looked at me with a funny look on his face. Pedro thought it was hysterically funny: he knew I could eat a lot, and I proved that when I downed the dozen tamales.
Well, late last night, the tamales started talking. Oh, boy, did they EVER! I spent a good part of last night in the bathroom, paying homage to the porcelain king. Both ends were working overtime. It was NOT funny! As a result of my being sick all night long, I didn't even bother to go to school today. (It may have been a holiday for most of the districts, but for us, we had to go, in order to make up for the recent spell of bad weather we had. Looks like we'll be going to school until late June, the way things appear now.)
I couldn't have gone to school today if I tried. The tamales did me in, and now I don't think I will be eating any more tamales for a long time to come. I think I learned my lesson. I should have stopped atter three at the most while I was ahead ...
Stupid tamales!! UGH!!!! :P
