There is nothing more calming, more breathtaking, to the human eye than a rainbow after a storm.
We had some nasty storms roll through here last night. (We live in Arkansas. We were under a "moderate risk" for severe weather yesterday afternoon and evening; and by the time it got dark, boy did we ever get it!) It is only by the grace of God that we didn't have any tornadoes near us (though the sirens sounded more than once, forcing us to spend time in our basement until the bad weather passed).
We did have some damage to some trees and some shingles blown off our roof, but other than that, we escaped without incident.
My name is Gradia ("Grady") Woijekicz (pronounced "Watch yuh kiss"; it's Polish). My husband, Reggie, our two teenaged dagughters (Abbie, aged 15 and Ophelia, aged 13), and our fifteen Maine Coon cats live in North Little Rock, Arkansas. I am a cat breeder (which is why we have so many cats in the first place), and my husband is a disabled Veteran. Our daughters are in school (but today they were off becuase their school got hit by some strong winds and sustained some damage).
This morning, upon wakening from a rough night, we were greeted by a beautiful double rainbow in the western sky. It was altogether breathtaking! It was as if God, Himself, was reminding us: "I have gottne you through the storm; now you shall have peace and tranquil weather."
I was happy we'd gotten thorugh the storms, but not happy at the thought that our daughters' school building sustained damage (and we had some damage to our yard and roof), or at the thought that there would only be more severe storms possible as winter turned into spring, prime time for severe weather in our neck of the woods.
We'd gotten through the storms this go around; what's to say what the next storm would bring?
As I think about this, I am more than ready to move to Alaska, where the only storms they have up thataway are magnetic! I bet they don't even have thunderstorms or things like tornadoes, large, damaging hail or winds, or flooding rains!!
Well, I'd best go. I and the girls are going to clean up our yard and then I am going to have Reggie call a roofing company, to see if they can fix our damaged roof at a reasonable price. I am just glad that nobody in our family was injured or even killed; that was a huge answer to prayer, as was the confirmation from God, Himself, that all was well!
