Traegan (Trae) Dickenson here. Thought an update was in order, so here goes ...
Gideon is now six years old. He's our oldest child, yet he's the one that needs the most attention. It isn't his fault, but sometimes Wendie (my wife) and I feel guitly because he was robbed of a normal childhood. He was born with mental and physical disabilities that left him unable to do much for himself; yet he is still a happy child: he is always laughing or amiling.
We also have two other children: Emma (four) and nearly two-year-old Judson. Emma is a very good little helper; she loves helping us take care of Gideon. She is very accepting of his disabilities; she handles it a lot better than we ever could. When Gid is sick, she's the one who has the most prayers; she doesn't want anything bad to happen to him.
We don't either. Now that flu/cold season is overwith, we all can breathe a huge sigh of relief. Gideon managed to stay out of the hospital this winter; it was a huge answer to prayer! He didn't get even as much as a sniffle; he remained well and happy, which was a miracle!
When Juddy and Em got sick, we sent them to their grandma and grandpa's house; that way, they could watch over them and not expose our most vulnerable family member to germs, which could prove to be deady for him, since his immune system is poor. He can get sick at the drop of a hat; even a cold could kill him if it's bad enough, as it could turn into pneumonia or something more serious, like strep or MRSA.
I'm just glad that grandma and grandpa are healthy, even though they are both in their seventies: at times they get around better than US, even though they are fourty years older than us! LOL They are absolutely amazing!
Easter is almost upon us. That means Easter egg hunts and special church services. Today we went to church, and it was wonderful. Emma cried at the beautiful music from the choir and worshp team, and Juddy was just plain fussy, so we ended up giving him to the nursery care workers until the services ended; that way we could listen to the pastor in peace. Gideon was tired; he slept through the entire service! LOL I'm surprised Pastor Dixon didn't hear him snoring throughout his sermon! LOL
Tonight we are going to go back to church (services are at seven), then we will take the kids for a late treat to the local Dairy Queen. Then we will bring them home, where Wendie and msyelf will put them down for the night. Hopefully it will be another restful night for us; we don't need Gideon's heart rate monitor going off again because his heart rate dipped again! That's a little bit too much excitement for us to handle!
Well, I'm going to get the kids ready, then Wendie and I will head on out the door for church. I will write in here again soon; until later, this is Trae Dickenson saying so long; may God bless you as much as He's been blessing our little famly! Keep those prayers coming; I think that's why Gideon has been doing so great lately! I hope and pray it continues~
~To be continued.~
