Pee Wee (aka Parker) Rogers, age six, shares his story. He is the youngest member of the Little League "Rough Riders" baseball team.

Image of clouds and sky (c) 2011, by Karla Dorman.

My name is Parker (Pee Wee) Rogers.  I am six years old.  I live in Baltimore, Maryland, with my family.

I have a mommy and daddy and two big brothers (8 and 10).  I'm the baby, though in a few months, I will become a big brother.  It's another boy.  Then I will be in the middle.  Mama is pregnant; soon the baby will be here.

Don't know if I'm happy or sad.  Most of all, I'd say I'm scared.  I don't want to be a big brother; I like things the way they are now!!

I am in the first grade.  I will be in the second grade when school starts back up again in the fall.

My favorite thing to do is play baseball.  I'm just learning, so I'm not very good yet.  (I miss more balls than hitting home runs, but with more practice, I'll get better.)  I go to Little League.  I'm on a team called "The Rough Riders"; I'm the littlest kid on the team.

The kids are age six to fifteen.  I'm the baby, as I just said.  Most of them are pretty good.  Last year, the team didn't win any games, but I hope we do this year.  We've all been practicing hard; Coach is very proud of us at how much we've been working.

When I don't play baseball, I like to read (I read picture books, but I can read some big-kid books, too), write stories, wrestle with my brothers, help mama and daddy around the house (I have to since mama is pregnant now), and watch old Bugs Bunny cartoons (or SpongeBob SquarePants) on tv.  I like to sing and go to church, too.

Well, I gotta go.  We have baseball practice at five, and I dno't want to miss it.  I will write in here again; 'til then, take care and be good!  God bless you!

~Pee Wee.  :)

Pee Wee sounds like a very typical little boy reminding me a lot of my grandson Mick. Actually, other than being an only child, this could be Mick's story.
