Happy Easter With love Darryn

The Little Monster Easter Adventure

Well it was early one Easter morning when Pete awoke from his gentle slumber and peered out the doorway of his hutch. Right he thought to himself as he looked upon the boggy marsh, “time to find some tasty morsels to eat, licking his lips hastily.
As he exited his hatch Pete stretched towards the heaven and looked up at the star lit canopy high above him AHHH he wondered as a comet shot past quickly, and faded out in to the yonder distant sky. Tar Na he thought to himself "what a pretty coloured light” Then he toddled off on his merry little way towards the small town that could be seen just over in the distance singing his favourite song that he had learned the pervious Christmas eve when he meet Santa for the first time.
Unto know to Pete this was unlike any other Sunday morning he had seen previously as he marched along on his way. After Pete had been walking for a while he came across a strange looking coloured egg, Now Pete knew it was an egg as he had seen similar looking things around the swamp when he saw the ducks. This egg looked to be the same shape as the ones he had seen but it defiantly wasn’t the same colour, “OHHH tar na shiny,” as it shone and glistened in the moonlight, he slowly and wearily approached looking to make sure no one was around he reached out and tapped it, it seemed like it was hallow and he started to think hmmm and became curious and wondered what it could be as he stood there marvelling at his reflection as he stared into its shiny coloured surface.
Scratching his forehead he seemed puzzled as to what it could be. Now Pete knew that the eggs he had seen always had a mother with them, so Pete started to wonder where the mother was. Looking around and not seeing one he decided to take it with him and go looking for its mother.
The problem with this plan was that the shiny egg was half his size. So he decided to try pushing it and it rolled away. “Tar Na” it seemed this egg was light and not as heavy as other eggs he had seen. So he crouched down and placed a hand on either side and took a firm hold and lifted the egg slowly and in an instant a gust of wind brushed by knocking him and the egg over again. “Da, la” He said as he pulled himself up and quickly checked to see the egg was ok, it seemed ok so once again he knelt down wrapping his arms as firmly as he could around the egg slowly lifted it up and started to walk again hoping there would be no more gusts of wind. Once he got his balance he decided to head towards town as he figured it must be an egg that belonged to the humans as the ducks eggs are normally white or pale brown in colour. So off he trotted towards the sleeping town, after a while he arrived at the town and noticed that there were eggs like his one in a shop window, puzzled he thought did his egg come from there. But the ones in the window were bigger and had spots all over their shiny covers so he proceeded to the next window and sitting on the front porch of this building he found a strange looking rabbit who was golden in colour, “Tar Na” he thought as he looked bewildered by the unusual looking rabbit. He started to wonder if this egg could belong to him. So he slowly approached so that he wouldn’t startle him, but he noticed that this rabbit didn’t move like the other rabbits and stood perfectly still and upright like he was standing at attention or something of that nature. As he reached out to the rabbit he also noticed that the rabbit was smooth and not furry like the field rabbits he had encountered in the past.
Pete asked in a growly voice “is this egg yours?” and the rabbit just stood there and said nothing. Pete thought this was quite rude, grumbled, turned around and left the rabbit there and moved along to the next store making sure he wasn’t followed by the unusual rabbit as he made his way along.
In the next shop window he found more strange eggs and a large rabbit in a plastic bag but these ones had no shiny coverings and the rabbit and eggs were both a dark chocolate brown, ‘how peculiar,’ he thought, ‘this rabbit wasn’t shiny like the rude rabbit before and it didn’t have fur like the ones from the fields, So he knew his egg couldn’t belong to this rabbit either.
Pete set the egg down and scratched his head taking a moment to rest. When suddenly he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye. Now he knew it was too early for the human’s to be up so he got curious and decided to follow in the direction of the movement. Just as he set off he suddenly remembered his egg and quickly picked it up. As he got closer the strange creature was coming closer as well. It appeared to be carrying something in his hand. Pete watched in awe as the strange creature went about his business visiting every house along the way and he wondered what the strange creature could be doing. “Tar Na,” he called and the strange creature stopped moving suddenly calling out “is anyone there?” Pete calling again “Tar Na” and the strange creature came closer and closer again. Then suddenly the creature peered out from the shadows and it was a rabbit but he didn’t look like any rabbit he had seen before, he was wearing a vest and carrying a basket of eggs all brightly coloured just like the one he had found in the meadow.
Then the strange rabbit said in a friendly voice, “Well hello there, I am the easter bunny I see you found my missing egg, I’ve been looking all over the place for that egg,” Pete then replied “Tar Na” presenting the egg to the strange looking rabbit. “Well, thank you, you are a very helpful little monster aren’t you” At that point the strange rabbit reached into his basket and pull out a smaller egg and gave it to Pete. Pete looked and this one was green and shiny and had a little monster on it. Pete thanked the strange rabbit and asked what he was meant to do with this egg. The Easter bunny replied, “You just peel off the coverings and enjoy the chocolate treat within.” And with that he hopped off on his way towards the next house wishing Pete a happy Easter as he left. Pete looked at the egg and decided to take the rabbits advice and peeled of the covering slowly trying no to tear it. And hidden behind the covering was a chocolate egg, much like the ones he saw earlier in the storefront window. Then he lifted the egg slightly and cracked it on the ground and it broke into pieces “Ohhh” he thought as he picked up one of the pieces and placed it in his mouth. He noticed as the sweet taste melted in his mouth and slid down his throat Saying “Hmm” and taking another piece off the ground and placing it in his mouth. And he continued to do this till all the pieces were gone. After he had finished the sun was on the verge of rising so Pete decided it was time to head home taking the covering with him.
Calling to the other eggs and unusual rabbits “Happy Easter” along the way.

The End
