Success in Life depends on RIGHT ATTITUDE!!

 The Last Teacher

Bill’s fuming over not getting that sale.  “Plus, I paid over sixty bucks on lunch with that guy.”  He couldn’t swallow it.  Driving home everything was irritating him, the lady at the light putting on lipstick, the slow driving old timer who made the swooping right turn.  The kids walking home from school that looked so stupid with their green hair and awful clothes.   “What’s wrong with this world?”  He thought.

Arriving home, Bill throws open the door with an ugly bang and yells, “We’re not going to Disney World!”  “Why not?” his wife asks coming into the room.  “I didn’t get the hospital sale.”

“Well that’s OK honey, we can use some of my savings this time and just do it a bit more cheaply.  We can rent a little condo that has a kitchen and that will cut our expenses to less than half the cost of the resort.  It’ll be fun.”

“How do you know how much it will cost?”

“I checked it all out on line.  There are lots of really nice places to rent and most of them have pools as well!”

“So you didn’t think I would get that sale, did you? Trisha, I really don’t think you believe in me one bit.”  “No, that’s not it at all.  I think the real problem is that you don’t believe enough in yourself.  Your value is not about whether or not you make a sale.  Your value comes from the good you do for others.  And as for me, I’m just trying to help the family have a nice summer no matter what our finances might be right now.”

Now Bill is really getting mad.  “Don’t preach to me with all that personal growth stuff.  I’m out there battling in the real world trying to win our share.”  “You and your friends and their airy-fairy books don’t have a clue!”

“Well, one clue is that what you’re doing is making yourself and this whole family miserable with all your negativity!”…..

Now it’s a month later and on Bill’s desk is a postcard from his daughter from Disney World, and a letter from his wife telling him why she’s done with being around such a negative and unhappy person.  And in her closing paragraph she says how much she enjoying her new job at, of all places, Disney World!

The last piece of mail is unopened.  It’s an envelope from an attorney.  He knows it’s the divorce papers.  As Bill continues sitting in his office he clearly realizes that he is not alone.  He is sitting there with the last teacher, PAIN!

And that’s how it works.  There isn’t one of us that doesn’t know it.  With pain it’s a moment-to-moment proposition.  We’re all looking to avoid it at every turn, every day.   And those who do it the best are the happiest, aren’t they?

So the best and wisest way to avoid pain is to accept and learn what life is asking of us before it gets to the last teacher.  But to do that takes a willingness to receive life’s lessons with an open and trusting heart and mind.  For as long as we live from a place of fear and resistance we will not be able to receive the growth and learning that life is continuously offering us.  And so the more we resist the closer the last teacher gets to our door!

Well this system, that includes pain as the last teacher, has been put in place in life to assist us, not to hurt us or to destroy us.  So we need to learn to trust the system, and the One who has put it all together.

But how can you trust what you don’t know?!  AHH! That’s the key point!  And it’s from this point that life in this age is asking us to go forward.  Forward to discovering first hand Who’s running the cosmic show.  And to do that, we have to look deep within ourselves. And when we do that we will discover not only our loving source, but an all fulfilling joy and wisdom that surpasses all of our greatest expectations!
