May 6, 2011, Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Crawfish Festival~
Dear Journal~
AAIIEEE!!
Bonjour, mes amis! Comment ca-vas? J'suis tres hereux, et j'suis tres bien, merci beaucoup!
It's me, your Cajun friend, Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux!
I am attending the annual madness known as the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival. I am having an absolute BLAST!!
My family comes down here every year from Tennessee to go; I have been going to the festival ever since I can remember. I love it here: the food (crawfish is king here: fixed any way you can think of!). The Cajun/zydeco music. Various other musical styles to tickle your earbones. Contests (beauty queen and "crawfish king" competitions, crawfish eating, the world-famous "crawfish races", etc.). A classic car show. Midway rides for the kids (or the "young of heart"). Big name (and future) stars. Sellers hawking their wares. Food, food, and more food! (Oh! Did I mention ... "food"??)
I will be performing on the Parc Hardy (main) stage, along with my brand-new Cajun band, "CAJUN HEAT!"; it is our first public performance together. I hope the people will like our music (mostly Cajun and traditional country, but other styles will be included as well!). I am really looking forward to it! I am opening up for Steve Riley and "The Mamou Playboys".
Brittie hasn't really had much fun since coming here to Louisiana from New Jersey except to go to a few Cajun music establishments (or go to Tennessee for Easter); I plan on showing her what it truly means to be a "C-A-J-U-N"! :) She has been depressed lately, so I am gonna try my (Cajun) best to cheer her up! :)
Some of the bands who will be performing this year include: Ray Abshire; Steve Riley/"The Mamou Playboys"; "The Pine Leaf Boys"; Al Berard and his Family Band; Bonsoir Catin; Chubby Carrier/"The Bayou Swamp Band"; Corey Ledet/"Zydeco Band"; "Da' Classics" with Sean Vidrine; Daigle-Frey Affair; "Feu Follet"; Forrest Huval/""Les Bordels"; Geno Delafose/"French Rockin' Boogie"; "The High Performance Band"; Hunter Courville/"Cajun Fever"; The Huval Family Band, and D.L. Menard and "the Jambalaya Cajun Band".
The weather has been tailor-made for this year's festival: sunny and pleasantly warm, with temperatures in the mid-to-upper eighties. We couldn't have asked for better weather! :) The weather gods have certainly been smiling down here for the festival! :)
I will be performing tonight as the opening act for Steve Riley and his band, and tomorrow I will be performing on the Acadiana Stage, right across from the midway; I perform tomorrow from two to three thirty. So I am performing twice at this year's event.
Well, I'm gonna see if I can snag some souvenirs and try to hunt down my family (that shouldn't be too hard ... LOL). I will write in here again soon; until later, have a great day and God bless! Hope y'all can make it this year to the festival; if you do, be prepared to have one "bon temps rouler", Cajun-style!! AAIEEE! :D
~Love, your friend, Ronee' Le-Anne. :D
