Sunday, June 26~
Sunday. Ahh, sweet, blissful Sunday! No worries, just can veg out and relax to the max! Sunday: how I love thee; let me count the ways ...
Britnee Rowlett here. I'm here all by my lonesome: Mike and Ronee' left for church; they won't be back until noon or so, maybe 12:30. They usually go out to eat after church. Me, I am planning on straightening up the dorm and not doing much of anything else except maybe watch trashy romance movies ... LOL Sounds like a good plan ...
Okay, I'm not totally alone. Ronee' 's furry beast, "Cajun", is here, keeping me company; she is looking at me with her intense green eyes as I write in here. She is such a love! Wouldn't hurt a fly or a hair on your head; she is the sweetest, purriest, furriest little thing! She is six years old now and is very friendly. I just love her!
We aren't doing much for the Fourth except the usual fare: going to the parade in the morning, then head over to Cajun Field, where they will have an all day festival replete with music, food galore, contests, and midway rides. There will also be military flyovers and tributes/speeches.
The main act of the evening will be none ofther than Cajun legend Wayne Toups and his band, "ZydeCajun". When I first heard his name mentioned, I thought Ronee' said "Wayne POOPS!" LOL I couldn't believe my ears! Oh, my word!! LOL
Wayne Toups (NOT Poops!) is a Cajun staple; he's one of the best accordionists around these parts!
The weather is so dry here. In fact, it is so bad we are in a severe (extreme) drought and there will be NO fireworks at ALL here in the state of Louisiana. I am so bummed about that: I was really looking forward to seeing some! It won't be the same without the fireworks exploding overhead! And the police say that if anyone is caught with fireworks or any other sort of explosive devices, they will be thrown in jail and severely punished.
There may be a tropical system in the Gulf sometime next week, but it's too early for any specific details. I hope not, but then again, I hope we do get one; we are in desperate need of rain!
The weather here in Louisiana is typical for June: hot and humid. I don't know how Ronee' puts up with it: when you step outside and you already bust out in a sweat, then it's too hot!! Yet she loves the heat/humidity. She should; she's used to this crap whereas I'm NOT!!
Well, I'd best get cracking on the picking up of the dorm: it's not going to do itself! And "Cajun" is looking at me as if to say, "Shake a leg, girl! Get a move on!" She's creeping me out! LOL Take care and blessed be!
~Britnee. :)
