Hanna B. updates us on what is going on in her life.

Image of sun and clouds (c) 2010, by Karla Dorman.

August 2011, Bountiful, Utah~

Hanna B. here.  Hope this finds all of you well and reasonably happy.  Thought I would update you as to what is going on ...

My triplet baby brothers are cuter than ever: they all have red hair and big blue/grey eyes and are getting so big!  I love to help Mamma take care of them!  They are now five and a half months old; they'll be six months old in September.

September also means time for school.  We will start our fall quarter of schooling the day after Labor Day, which is in a few weeks.  I will be in Grade Four.  I hope I do well; I have always loved school!

In addition to that, we will be harvesting our food before too long and getting ready for winter.  That is always a very busy time, not only for us, but for our entire community as well.  We will have a special Harvest Service at church, where we will thank the Lord for His goodness/provision in our lives.

On September 11, 2011, which will mark the 10-year anniversary of the terror attacks, we will have a special memorial service.  I wasn't born then, but I have heard about it and have seen pictures of what happened that day.  It makes me sad to know that some people do not know how to love: all they know is hate.  I don't understand why they had to kill so many people in the name of God, as they say.  Well, the God I know isn't full of hate or violence: OUR God is full of love, forgiveness, and compassion!

The last of the snows have just about melted, but there is some evidence of it on the highest mountain peaks.  In fact, some places still have enough snow that the ski resorts are still running!  It's incredible!!  (I just wish we could send some of our water to places like Texas or Oklahoama, who are both having a terrible drought; they need rain so badly there!!)

And then the Eastern Seaboard of the United States is facing a bad hurricane.  There is a monster hurricane called Irene just offf the Caroline coast, and it is expected to affect the entire Eastern half of the United States.  Cities like Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, and Baltimore are in direct line of fire from Hurricane Irene, and from the looks of it, Irene looks like a bad one.  I just pray there is no catastrophic damage or many deaths or injuries from the storm; in fact, I pray for God to protect those people there.

I have been having a fun summer, playing with my brothers and sisters (as well as my stop brothers and sisters), sleeping in as late as I want (or until Mamma, Mommy, or Mom calls me to wake up, anyway), helping Beckah at the store on Saturdays, and making my own spending money, which I usually blow on candy, paper, pens, crayons, or books.  That's another thing: I absolutely LOVE to read!!

My mom's cousin, Jessa, had her baby last week: she had a little girl.  They named her Caroline Jessa.  She was born with something called Down's syndrome.  I don't really understand what that means, but the way Mom explained it is like this: Caroline was born with an extra chromosome, and it caused her to become mentally disabled.  She will be slow to learn things, and she might have heart trouble too.  I hope and pray not!

Mom is very sad about this, but I am sure cousin Jessa is even more so, as it is her daughter ... Father has been really supportive to Mom and to Jessa; he always knows how to say the right thing and make people feel better when they are facing any sort of trouble!

Well, Father is calling me; he wants me to watch over Heather and Hopie, who are getting into the apple bin again.  Sigh ... younger sisters ... and brothers ... : life is never dull without them around!  And I also have to watch Isaiah, Israel, and Ishmael; they are crying; they must have just awakened from their nap!  I will write in here again; until later, this is Hanna B. saying so long!!
