Ohio.

A boy with an unusual name tells his story.

Name's Ohio.  Like the state.  My full name is Ohio Redmond Jacobs.  I am fouteen years old.

I live in Georgia, in Columbus, but I was born in Ohio, in Mansfield, but raised in a little village just west of there called Ontario.  I moved to Georgia after my parents got divorced when I was five.  That was nine  years ago.

My dad cheated on my mom.  She got fed up with his chating ways, so she up and left him, just like that.  Dad also drank like a fish: he was a known alcoholic and often hit mom and us kids.  It was a nasty time.

Besides myself and my mom, I have two brothers named Atlanta and Macon.  They are both younger: they are six (Macon) and nine (Atlanta; we call him Lan for short).  We did have a sister named Heather, but she was killed last year in a car wreck while out with some friends.  She was fifteen.  She was my older sister.  We all miss her so much.  She died a little over a year ago, in March, on the first day of spring.

I don't like to talk about that part (or the abuse that dad inflicted upon us kids and on mom).  I think that's made me a rather introverted, quiet person.  I am seeing a counselor to deal with the past, and it is helping some, but I hate dealling with painful memories from the past.  Yet if I am to move on past the grief and anger in my heart, this is necessary.

I sure hope I can be happy again.  I hate being so depressed or bitter all of the time!

I am a typical teenaged boy.  That is, suffice to say, I like to hang out with my friends, play with my brothers, play sports, write poetry or stories (mainly about my life), and collect rocks, shells, and Star Wars stuff.  I am crazy about science fiction or horror; whenever I get a book, that is what I choose to read.  In addition, I like to roller blade and skateboard.

Well, gonna head on out: mom wants me to clean up the kitchen.  Macon and Lan left it in a horrific mess.  UGH!  I will write in here soon; until later, this is Ohio signing out.  So long for now!

~Ohio.

I really don't know what to say about Ohio. Her story is not all that unusual and now she seems to be heading in the right direction, so, I guess we'll just have to see what happens to her a little later on.
